R&M CONSULTANTS, INC. is a well-established, employee-owned Alaskan professional services firm. Recent and ongoing work includes the Dalton Highway MP 18-37 Reconstruction, Airport Way West Improvements (Fairbanks), Sterling Highway MP 45-60 Reconstruction

Phase 1B, Fairview Loop Road Rehabilitation, State Street Pavement Rehabilitation (Skagway), Ketchikan Water Street Trestle No. 1 Replacement (Ketchikan), Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue Extension, and Seward Highway/Alyeska Highway Intersection Improvements.
R&M is currently seeking a team-oriented Project Engineer to support growth within our Surface Transportation Group.
As a member of the R&M team, the Project Engineer will be responsible for performing analysis and design tasks related to surface transportation projects. During the desing process, tasks generally include initiating and developing technical design concepts and details, studies and recommended design solutions, and preparing final plans, specifications and cost estimates in accordance with the appropriate design standards. During construction, tasks typically include technical support, submittal reviews and milestone site inspections.
Additional responsibilities include supervising staff engineers, technicians and interns, and coordinating project deliverables with other Project Engineers, Senior Project Engineers and other R&M disciplines.
The successful applicant will be expected to represent R&M and actively participate in professional organizations and community activities.
The Project Engineer will report to a Senior Project Engineer on a day-to-day basis, based on team organization for specific projects.
Minimum Qualifications
The position requires a B.S. in Civil Engineering plus 5 to 10 years of civil design work, with an emphasis in highway and street design. Other desirable qualifications include experience in written design analysis, traffic engineering, drainage design and preparation of final construction bid documents. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D desired, as well as basic skills in the various Microsoft Office products. All candidates should have good interpersonal abilities for working in a dynamic team environment and strong written and verbal communication skills. Alaska PE required or able to obtain by reciprocity.
