Our shop volunteers can have varied roles to help assist the manager run their shop successfully either working on the shop floor or in the stockroom.
It is a great place to meet people and to give something back and to learn new skills.
**Volunteer Stockroom Assistant**
Job Role:
This role is based mainly in the back area of the shop where you will work as a team to sort donations of clothes, shoes and toys. Training will be given on how to steam clothes, and tag items. As well as helping in the stockroom you will be asked to help with other housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and tidying and rotating stock on the shop floor.
Typical tasks include:
Sort, identify and keep track of our stock in our shop.
We are well supported with super goods coming in every day, this means we have a lot to do to sort and clean them to get them on the shop floor.
Preparing items for sale e.g. tagging them and putting them on a hangar.
Steaming clothes
Helping and engaging with customers who are dropping off donations
Answering telephone calls (if necessary).
Recording donations drop-offs
Gift Aid labelling and promoting Gift Aid to customers.
Sorting out bric-a-brac for Braintree 2.

**Shop Floor Sales Assistant**
Job Role:
Our shop volunteers are the first point of contact for customers when they enter our shops.
You will provide invaluable help through the running of the shop, keeping it stocked and attractively displayed.
You can get involved as much or as little as you like by sorting out stock; putting your own stamp on the shop displays or getting trained to serve customers at the till.
Being part of a huge retail team to raise funds is very motivating, you provide the best service possible by representing the to the local community and raise as much money as possible for the organisation.
Typical tasks include:
Serving customers & providing good all-round customer service
Promoting our campaigns to customers
Promoting instore sales
Working on window and shop displays
Keeping the shop tidy, clean and well organised
Interacting with the general public
Engaging with customers and serving them in a helpful and friendly way
Communicating with fellow volunteers about what has sold and needs re-stocking
Honing your retail and cashier skills behind the till and taking payments
Promoting Gift Aid and sales campaigns, and chatting to customers
