The IT Professional - Applications & Servers is a highly technical position responsible for specialized computer applications in support of the function of the department's
goals and objectives.
This position will also serve as a second level support for technicians and has elevated permissions to perform server and domain level administration on various technology systems.
Performs business software analysis; collects and analyzes the business requirements of city-wide departments regarding internal IT software implementations; evaluates data through task analysis, business process, surveys, workshops; transfers knowledge and provides software support and training to users
Develops custom reports, forms, workflows, enhancements, etc. required to fill gaps between software and business requirements
Understands each department’s long-term strategy; assists with planning for enterprise-wide application deployment and upgrades including security rights and patches
Collaborates with IT management on internal department strategy, standards, and process improvement efforts, documentation solutions and assisting with implementation throughout the team
Maintains Microsoft Office365, system, security, and applications
Performs related work as required
Subject to rotation on-call schedules
Knowledge of:
Knowledge of various Information Management Systems (Preferred: Tyler Technologies software)
Knowledge of applications, third party applications, audio video systems, mobile systems and communication systems
General knowledge of computers and SQL
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operations system and Microsoft Office suite
Skill in:
Skill in troubleshooting, researching, analyzing, evaluating, and solving technically challenging problems involving integrated systems.
Skill in interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships
Ability to:
Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and concisely with others
Ability to consistently demonstrate positive/proactive customer service attitude
Ability to represent the City in a professional and effective manner by establishing and maintaining working relationships with co-workers, City employees, outside organizations, vendors, and the general public.
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
or
3 years or more of experience with various Information Management Systems and Microsoft systems, products, and software
Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check and satisfy Criminal Justice Information Security (CJIS) requirements to enter certain secure City facilities such as the Public Safety Building.
Municipal government experience preferred.
Valid Driver’s License
This is a safety sensitive position.
As such, you will be required to participate in random drug testing at the city.
