Role Description

This is a full-time on-site position located in our Irvine, CA location, working closely with the company owner. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating the total costs associated with a project by executing a detailed line-item budget by trade with unit costs. This role requires someone with an acute attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with fixed deadlines. This position will include establishing and maintaining working relationships with clients and vendors.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain valued relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure client satisfaction

Conduct initial analysis of drawings and specifications to ensure required documentation is present and determine scope of work to develop estimates

Analyze electrical, mechanical, architectural drawings and other documents to use in preparation of detailed estimates

Responsible for preparation of bid documents and proposals

Manage large and/or multiple project estimates independently

Strategize with clients, vendors, and personnel in other departments to formulate estimates

Review contracts on awarded jobs and assure the contracts include our exclusions, clarifications, and reflect proposal scope

Manage bid follow-ups

Participate in job walks and pre-bid meetings as needed

Capture all activity and sales-related data in CRM system (BuilderTrend)

Requirements

Bachelors degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of technical training and experience

Minimum of 5-10 years experience in budgeting and estimating for commercial construction projects including offsite civil and underground utilities, commercial TI/interior, multifamily, retail, prevailing wage work, concrete, grading, and restaurant knowledge a plus

Proficiency in reading commercial architectural and construction plans, specifications, and takeoffs

Strong computer skills and proficiency in BuilderTrend, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, and Excel

Possess excellent analytical and organizational skills and strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to prioritize, work with tight schedules, deliver deadlines and manage multiple projects concurrently

Resourceful and diligent in seeking solutions to problems and adapting to new situations
