As a bartender at bartaco, you must efficiently craft every freshly squeezed drink to perfection, and always serve our guests responsibly. After you complete training, you will be expected to have extensive knowledge of our food, beverage and bar program and be able to make knowledgeable recommendations to enhance our guest's experience.
You will be a resource for support team members, Dragonflies, and servers in the restaurant to answer questions about our beverage program.
As a bartender at bartaco, here's an overview of what you'll do.
- Promptly greet guests as they are seated upon arrival, respond appropriately and timely to guests needs.
- Check guest IDs to ensure proper alcohol service compliance.
- Preparing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for bar and dining room guests.
- Restocking the bar with supplies.
- Maintaining cleanliness of the bar area and equipment.
- Takes payments in acceptable payment forms.
- Taking food and To-Go orders as needed.
- Assessing guest needs and preferences and making recommendations.
- Maintain a positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure with other team members.
- Perform side work at the start, during and end of each shift as assigned.
- Be a team player, supporting team members at every opportunity.
- Other duties may be assigned as the need arises.

Although your previous work experience in the restaurant or retail industry as a barista, server, busser, sales associate, cashier, drive-thru, kitchen team member, or sales representative is still useful and appreciated, what matters most is who you are.

Requirements
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Walking and Standing: Bartenders are required to be on their feet and walk during their scheduled shift, attending to guests and fulfilling their duties.
- Continuous Movements: Tasks such as reaching for ingredients, bending, lifting heavy bottles, and carrying trays or glassware are part of a bartender's daily routine.
- Stationary Periods: Bartenders must be able to remain stationary during busy periods, focusing on fulfilling orders and providing service.
- Manual Dexterity: A bartender must have good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to prepare garnishes, simple syrups, and freshly squeezed juices.
- Legal Age: Bartenders must meet the legal drinking age requirement to serve alcoholic beverages in accordance with state law.
- Knowledge and Skills:
- Basic Mathematical Skills: Bartenders should possess basic math skills to handle money, process payments accurately, and provide proper change to customers.
- Basic Reading Skills: Reading and understanding drink orders, recipes, and any written communication is essential for a bartender to perform their job effectively.
- Basic Computer Skills: Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems is important for processing orders, tracking sales, and managing tabs efficiently.
- Beverage Knowledge: Bartenders should have a clear understanding of various alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including beer, wine, and cocktails. Familiarity with cocktail recipes, mixing techniques, and ingredient combinations is essential.
- Strong Communication Skills: Effective communication with guests and coworkers is crucial for providing excellent customer service and maintaining a positive atmosphere.
- Understanding of Food and Beverage Specifications: Bartenders should have a clear understanding of the ingredients, characteristics, and presentation requirements of various food and drink offerings to provide accurate recommendations and assistance to guests.
- Workplace Safety Procedures: Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and the ability to handle and operate bar equipment safely is important to prevent accidents and maintain a secure working environment.
Licenses and Certifications: The specific licenses and certifications required may vary depending on the location and local laws. However, some common certifications for bartenders include:
ETIPS (or similar alcohol training program): Required in markets such as Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, Virginia, Florida, and Georgia to ensure responsible alcohol service.
A.B.C. Certification: Required in the Tennessee market to comply with specific state or city laws governing alcohol service.
