Description Job Title: Bilingual Service Coordinator Position Summary: This position will be responsible to serve as the primary contact between the Latino families at the Family and Immigrant Connections program and various county and community agencies.This position will identify potential resources to enhance educational, social, and economic opportunities for families. The position requires the experience and knowledge of the community and key people and agencies in the community. Duties and Responsibilities: 1.Responsible for intakes, individual assessments, coordination, and monitoring of the delivery of service coordination to high-needs Latino families with language and cultural barriers including case assessments and management, referrals/coordination to social service, medical, and government agencies, etc. and linkages with interpretation assistance and English classes to promote long-term self-sufficiency.2.Bring resources to the center that will benefit families that need specialized services.3.Individual is responsible to translate written material, signs, and other documents into Spanish for the benefit of the families and provide them with interpreters, translators, and program information for awareness and education.4.Follow the Family Support Principles.Provide positive family communications, work with families in becoming self-sufficient, and participate in reciprocal relationships based on respect.5.Screen/meet with clients to determine and assess gaps in service, English proficiency level, medical needs, social service and other needs, provide referrals, and track progress on a regular basis.Conduct meetings with all potential enrollees and complete all program documentation. Provide crisis intervention and assistance to clients and possess the ability to develop trusting, supportive relationships with clients.6.Be trained in the Conferencing and Teaming service provision model; competent in using this practice model as appropriate.7.Develop individual plans, both short-term and long, to include development of English proficiency whenever possible as well as building competence in accessing services independently. Meet with enrollees to develop a family plan, assist them in setting professional and personal goals and monitor progress.8.Advocate with families to providers, school districts, DPW and CYF, and other systems.9.Coordinate services and referrals with partner agencies, county human service providers, schools, healthcare and government entities, etc. Follow-up to be sure services were provided. Maintain relationships with service providers.10.Coordinate activities of navigators/interpreters and ensure proper documentation.11.Work with site director and family development case manager to identify families in need of services.12.Collect and record data, producing measurable outcomes, as appropriate.13.Participate in the delivery of training to external service providers.14.Take part in staff development and training opportunities.15.Assume other duties as directed by the site director so program operates smoothly and efficiently.Qualifications1. Bachelor's degree in counseling, child development, family relations, social work, education, human services field, and (3) years' experience working with immigrant services, service coordination or other social service.2. Aware of cross-cultural differences in dealing with foreign-born clients, able to behave in a culturally sensitive manner, and to respond appropriately to the cultural characteristics of the clients.3. Excellent reading, writing, and speaking in English and Spanish.4. Experience in translation preferred.5. Ability to interpret for men, women, and children and in many kinds of settings, including medical, school, social service, and public benefit offices.6. Ability to work collaboratively with and follow direction of service coordination team, and to report as required.7. Ability to empower self-sufficiency and to create a more coherent system of services for refugees/immigrants across the county.8. Basic level expertise in current Microsoft Office products.9. Strong communication, writing, interpersonal, organizational and recordkeeping skills required.10. Excellent organizational skills, initiative, and ability to work with limited supervision.11. Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.12. Ability to track, evaluate, and interpret program data to ensure high-quality programs and services.13. Ability to travel.14. Ability to comply with the AIU Conduct policy.
