Since entering the USA in 2018, Brickworks have acquired Sioux City Brick, Redland Brick and the distribution business of Southfield Corporation in Illinois and Indiana (Illinois Brick, Indiana Brick). The combined North American business now has more than 1,000 employees, operates across 40 locations, including 8 brick plants (Glen-Gery), 25 masonry supply center/retail locations (Brickworks Supply) and 3 Design Studios (Brickworks).

Basic Function

Reporting to the Brickworks North American Executive Vice President, Finance, this position will have primary financial responsibility for the manufacturing plants and retail locations in North America. These responsibilities include oversight of financial reporting, annual budgeting as well as weekly forecasting. This position will have knowledge of operational finance (inventory, standard costs, etc.) and the ability to apply standard principles, theories, concepts, and techniques, as well as make complex decisions in coordination with the VP of Sales, VP of Operations and Senior Director of Retail Operations. This includes working with the executive team to develop the financial strategy and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve divisional assets and report accurate financial results.

In addition, this role will be a critical part of the development of internal control policies and procedures at the plant & retail level. This position will have 5-7 direct reports with a total team of 13 employees throughout North America.

Principal accountabilities are:

Planning

Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans Develop operational strategies in conjunction with the Executive VP Finance and senior management team Support the capital request process, including payback and discounted cash flow calculations Develop performance measures that support the company's strategic direction and monitor operational metrics

Operations

Oversee month-end reporting within operations, including inventory monitoring & valuation, general ledger entries and accruals Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team Oversee process improvement initiatives across the operational organization with a focus on driving standardization in finance processes and controls across the organization Oversee monthly & annual physical inventories

Financial Information

Oversee the management and coordination of all operational reporting for the organization, including revenue/expense and balance sheet reports and the development of budgets In conjunction with the EVP Finance, manage the preparation and submission to the parent company of weekly profit estimates and semi-annual profit forecasts

Risk Management

In conjunction with EVP Finance, construct and monitor reliable internal control systems Ensure that recordkeeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies Maintain strong relations with both internal and external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations

Acquisitions

Key role in driving integration of acquired businesses, including reporting and controls

Other Duties

Lead, direct, and develop the operational finance team, including providing coaching and career development support Provide finance leadership support to the sales and production leaders

Education and Travel

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance Master's degree in accounting or business administration preferred Certified Management Accountant (CMA) a plus Must be willing to travel up to 15-20% of time outside of assigned locations

Experience

Business experience of 10+ years in progressively responsible leadership positions in a major company or division of a large manufacturing corporation (Public Company/Corporate Office Experience is beneficial) Demonstrated experience in managing, developing, and leading a large team High level of written and oral communication Experience in forecasting, budget preparation, and product costing
