In support of the National Director of Materials Engineering and Construction Testing and Inspection Services. The primary role of the Assistant Service Line Director is to support the vision and provide guidance and leadership to promote safe, profitability and growth in our Materials Engineering and Construction Testing and Inspection Practice. **This position can be supported from any of our Central Operating Group offices.** Acting as a strategic partner to the operating group manager, division managers, and materials leaders, the Assistant Service Line Director will focus on the following areas: + Materials Department Manager and Project Manager training and development + APR development and Quality Leadership + Materials Department Manager and Project Manager training and development + Technical Skills/Knowledge/Innovation and Technology + Safety Leadership and building our safety culture + Assist in strategic hiring and recruiting + Client Development/Management + Major Pursuit Partner + Change Management Leadership + Execution of the strategic and annual operations plans including assisting offices with achieving hiring goals + Assist Department Managers on how to increase financial performance The mix of time spent in these key areas may vary substantially depending upon needs within the operations, various needs of the service line, and the individual’s background and expertise. **Technical Skills/Knowledge** + Maintain general knowledge of a variety of technical areas of practice involved in delivering services within the service line + Provide technical direction and oversight of project scopes and performance for a variety of practice areas within the service line (i.e. need a broad knowledge base) + Provide senior-level consulting to both internal staff and external clients + Assist in maintaining the quality of technical work at our high standards across all offices performing work in the service line + Be responsive to the needs of staff from around the company when questions on technical, contract and client issues are raised + Participates in external organizations and strives to hold leadership roles **Essential Skills/Abilities** + Demonstrated ability to participate in and lead activities involving creative and innovative thinking and strategy development. + Demonstrated ability to communicate well with technical professionals, corporate management and clients. + Demonstrated ability to effectively lead change management to achieve desired results. + Demonstrated leadership skills in people management and change adoption. + Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong, effective workplace relationships. + Models a strong work ethic consistent with Terracon culture and expectations. + Understands and aligns with Terracon’s vision, mission and values and helps direct investment of resources to achieve the service line strategy. + Pursue continuous improvement to the practice areas performed within the service line. + Comfortable presenting internally and externally (large and small audiences). + Overnight Travel is required for this position, travel estimated to be 50%. **Qualifications** + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Discipline or related degree plus at least 10 years of practical experience in Materials Engineering and Construction related services; or + MS in Engineering Discipline or related degree plus at least 8 years of practical experience in Materials Engineering and Construction related services + Authorized Project Reviewer (APR) in related service line or ability to become an APR within 6 months. + Demonstrated experience in building and growing related business and services and managing profitable operations. + Demonstrated technical expertise in service line or sector. + Demonstrated experience in influencing peers and superiors to achieve positive change in the absence of a direct reporting obligation. + Strong business development and client management experience and skills + Demonstrated experience in project management that achieves successful project outcomes including financial, technical, client and safety objectives. + Valid driver’s license + Licensed P.E. in any state is highly preferred \#LI-TB1 **Exemption:** Exempt **Requisition ID:** 28331BR **Posting Title:** Construction Materials Assistant Serviceline National Director, Central **Employment Type:** Regular, Full Time **City, State (Office Location):** Olathe, KS **About Terracon:** Terracon is a 100 percent employee-owned multidiscipline consulting firm comprised of more than 6,000 curious minds focused on solving engineering and technical challenges from more than 175 locations nationwide.
