As the Preconstruction Project Manager you will lead the preconstruction processes that are required to successfully expand our fiber optic network. As a leader of preconstruction, you will be responsible for the planning stages prior to the start of physical construction. We are looking for someone that has worked in utility construction planning or engineering, or a construction project manager position that can bring their knowledge to our growing team Key Responsibilities Coordinate with Design Engineers to convert high level designs into constructable projects for the Construction team including pole attachments, high profile crossings, bridge attachments and utility coordination Verify route feasibility prior to high level design and pole engineering to determine probability of attachment Navigate pole attachment engineering and acceptance, and incorporate design changes prior to construction start Coordinate attachment standards with pole owners for optimal attachment rate Manage attachment process after construction completes through final inspection and closeout Coordinate with other departments when existing infrastructure needs to be relocated, including reviewing civil engineering plans, comparing plans to existing Ideatek infrastructure, developing relocation plans that can be provided to the construction team Pursue and obtain competitive pricing from pole and civil engineering contractors Implement strategies that will decrease overall project duration and ensure constructability Manage to timelines and constraints, ensuring there is clear communication to all stakeholders Utilize creative problem solving skills to identify unique solutions Provide schedule updates and status of specific project activities Lead all aspects of the companys safety culture and create awareness by demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment through individual actions and mentoring others Willingness to visit project sites first hand to see issues and solve problems Desired Attributes Self motivated, driven, and results oriented Proactive communication skills Must apply critical thinking skills to solve problems Strong organizational skills and ability to pivot when priorities shift Ability to work with all levels of the organization as well as external stakeholders and contacts Ability to influence appropriate decision making Strong negotiation skills Experience/Knowledge Required 4+ years experience working in a telecom planning & design position Current & valid drivers license with no restrictions High School Diploma or equivalent Preferences Working knowledge of NJUNS pole attachment system Experience with pole attachment standards (NESC and local) Telecommunications Outside Plant Design, Construction, Maintenance, or Estimating Experience Knowledge of Construction Methods (Vaults, Pedestals, Duct, Cable Placement) and aerial construction methods (Pole Attachments, Separation Distances, Tensions/Sag) Familiarity with Telecommunications Fiber Maps (Vetro and others) Bachelor's degree in Construction Project Management Benefits and Culture IdeaTek Offers a Culture Where Employee Strengths Are Highlighted And Recognized.
