To meet the community's needs, the Speech, Language, and Learning Services department is hiring a full-time speech-language pathologist. The role will focus on serving outpatient clients at our Lyndhurst location. A well-prepared CF will be considered. Purpose of Job: Manage client care involving individuals with verbal, nonverbal, cognitive-linguistic, speech, language, reading/writing, and/or social communication disorders including assessing abilities and needs as well as developing and implementing treatment plans to improve the client’s communicative ability, efficiency, and/or effectiveness. Major Duties and Expectations Assess and diagnose abilities and needs clients have in regard to: Speech sound production (including intelligibility, fluency, prosody, voice quality, etc.). Language abilities (including understanding and using oral and written modalities). Cognitive-linguistic communication skills (including attention, memory, reasoning, problem-solving disorders, etc.). Pragmatic skills. Determine the nature and extent of needs using: Written and oral tests (standardized and non-standardized). Special instruments or methods designed to record and analyze speech, language, and voice skills. Generation of ETR documents. Develop and implement treatment programs and plans of care tailored to each client’s needs which may include: Familiarity with Individual or group treatment formats. Use of multimodal communication methods, such as augmentative or alternative communication devices/strategies (including high- and low-tech devices and sign language). Ability to confer with outside agencies as necessary to coordinate the care of the client/family. Development and implementation of IEPs. Develop and maintain accurate, thorough clinical records in a timely manner including initial evaluation reports, treatment plans, progress notes and summaries, and discharge reports in the clinic environment. Proficiency in Ohio school documentation and procedures. Counsel and communicate with client and family on all aspects of care as appropriate, including: Evaluation (methods, results, and recommendations). Treatment (methods, facilitating strategies, progress, carry-over). Discharge (plans, rationale, methods, expectations, and additional resources). Refer clients and families to other social/health services as appropriate. Participate in staff development activities such as facilitating/developing supervisory and/or clinical skills. Develop and participate in educational, public relations, and/or marketing programs for clients, families, and community professionals. Education/Experience/Skills A Master’s degree in SLP from a program accredited by the ASHA Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) is required. Ohio SLP license or conditional license is required. Skills in working with both pediatric and adult clients preferred. Strong analytical, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
