Microelectronics Assembly Technician We are seeking a Microelectronics Assembly Technician to help us build cable, wire harness, magnetic, and electronic circuit assemblies for national security and space applications. This is a unique opportunity to apply a passion for electronics manufacturing toward advanced prototypes and one-of-a-kind systems that will further the scientific knowledge of humankind, safeguard our nation's security, and advance the frontiers of space. As an Electronics Assembler, your primary responsibility will be to utilize the proper tools, equipment, and processes to assemble high reliability assemblies. These high reliability assemblies include printed circuit boards. Working with internal and external partners to develop microelectronic and hybrid assemblies to meet their needs. Communicate issues and concerns throughout the process with our partners, other engineers, technicians, and supervisor. Work with the Microelectronics Assembly Engineer to solve or diagnose problems with processes or packages. Hands-on microelectronics and hybrid assembly work, especially with a new process or assembly. Interface with project and manufacturing engineers in resolution of problems on related hardware and to develop complex manufacturing instructions. Help maintain the cleanroom facility, chemistry labs, and the processing tools. Document procedures, report on progress, and support our paperwork requirements as needed. Work to develop and improve processes and capabilities. You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you possess a High School Diploma or equivalent work experience. You also need 10+ years of experience working in a clean room on microelectronics assemblies. You should have knowledge and experience in PCB Assembly processes and techniques. Any NASA certification that pertains to Microelectronics Assembly is also required. You must be able to work to different requirements depending on the task at hand (i.e. mil spec or NASA standard). You should be able to function as part of a team and contribute to the team learning and understanding. Experience using and troubleshooting both wedge and ball bonders is required. You should be customer-oriented with excellent communication skills, self-motivated, capable of multitasking and following verbal and written instructions. You must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance. You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you have 15+ years of experience working in a clean room on microelectronics assemblies. You should have knowledge and experience using a dicing saw. You should be capable of using CAD software to layout basic assembly wire bond drawings. The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
