Our Dayton, Ohio based client is currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join their growing Corp. IT team.

The client is looking for a seasoned professional who will be responsible for Enterprise Infrastructure both on-premises and in the Cloud and have experience in AWS and Azure using Infrastructure as Code, Linux, and Networking skills.

This position is authorized for hybrid work.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

Work in a supervised environment and participate in an on-call rotation.

Provide maintenance and support of one or more systems (Networks, Servers, or other specified systems)

Ensure uninterrupted access to quality, efficient, high-performing computer services.

Provide thorough technical systems support.

Work with other Systems Managers, Applications, and Operations staff to promote standardization and validation of computing environments.

Identify operational problems, and manage improvements, documenting methods of troubleshooting and correction for future use.

Contribute to the improvement of system performance and reliability.

Maintain standardization of computing environments.

Ensure service delivery targets and operational requirements are met.

Provide senior level technical guidance to IT projects or strategic initiatives.

Take leadership role in managing IT projects, across functional lines, including development and implementation of hardware and software to meet business requirements.

Work with business groups and technical teams to determine technical solutions required for implementation to user base.

Manage systems solutions.

Develop training plans, prepare user/technical documentation.

Key Accountabilities

As a team member, maintain reliable, quality, systems environment for DDC systems including capacity management, performance management, systems troubleshooting, security, backups, system installations and upgrades, maintenance, repairs, and enhancements.

Work closely with IT management and technical staff to review and define standards for systems.

Provide technical expertise to support systems and infrastructure components in the production and development environments.

Perform problems and requirements analysis for new systems and systems improvement.

Perform Systems Projects and product evaluations/reviews.

Ensure compliance with hardware and software standards and technical standards for installation, configuration, operations management and maintenance of specific system(s). Contribute to the improvement of standards.

Assist in negotiation and management of external vendor relationships for maintenance, support, or installation services.

Provide support for mission critical systems during and outside of normal business hours when required.

Provide regular status reports to IT management for system performance and capacity measurement metrics.

Implement systems backups and recovery procedures.

Monitor key systems parameters to ensure optimum performance.

Provide technical expertise in the diagnosis and resolution of system related problems.

Keep abreast of industry standards and technological trends.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field (or equivalent experience)

Minimum 8 – 10 years of experience in IT & Application support

Specific experience is required in the following technical areas:

Cloud AWS or Azure

Linux

Networking

Networking Protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, FTP, SNMP, SMTP, etc.

Firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, encryption techniques, secure protocols (SSL/TLS), access control.

LAN/WAN design, subnetting, VLANs, routing, switching, wireless networking.

Monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Solarwinds NetFlow), configuration management, performance optimization.

Diagnosing network issues, packet analysis (Wireshark), debugging.

Familiarity with various OS like Cisco IOS, Juniper Junos, Linux networking.

Understanding SDN principles and technologies like OpenFlow, SD-WAN.

Voice over IP protocols, QoS for real-time applications.

Network Automation and Scripting: Python, Ansible, or similar for automating network tasks.

In-depth knowledge of IT systems, hardware, and software.

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment.

Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Cloud, Azure, Linux) are a plus.
