Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 9am to 5pm

Methodist Jennie Edmundson is actively seeking an energetic, and passionate therapist for their outpatient clinic that will be able to implement a PRI program in a predominantly chronic pain population. Experience with Postural Restoration is desirable, but a strong interest in learning Postural Restoration Institute (PRI) concepts and treatment protocol is sufficient. Applicants will possess a love of learning and collaboration. Mentoring with certified Postural Restoration therapist will be provided, and CE will be supported as necessary PRI for growth.
Responsible for evaluating a wide variety of patient types and identifying physical dysfunction and functional capabilities to facilitate appropriate treatment of patients.

Evaluate a wide variety of patient types and identify physical dysfunction and functional capabilities to facilitate appropriate treatment of patients.
  • Review medical records to assist in the evaluation process and contacts attending MD's to gather information as needed.
  • Performs an evaluation on initial visit of patients.
  • Chooses appropriate tests and measures for each diagnosis.
  • Uses appropriate outcome tool for each diagnosis.
  • Establishes a treatment plan from initial evaluation.
  • Includes patient and families in goal planning.
  • Assesses needs for additional interdisciplinary services and refers patients for these services.
  • Performs re-evaluations regularly and objectively.
Establish and implement a treatment program with regular follow-up to assure efficiency of treatment, by basing treatment on objective evaluations and functional and achievable short and long term goals with realistic time frames.
  • Treatments must be appropriate for the patient and the effectiveness of the plan is constantly being re-evaluated.
  • Frequency of treatment is appropriate for patient condition.
Provides patient focused treatments aiming to achieve maximum functional improvement with efficiency.
  • Treatment plans are appropriate to diagnosis.
  • Treatments are progressed appropriately for patient condition/status.
  • Ongoing re-assessment is evident in documentation and is addressed by modifying the plan of care.
  • Utilized the services of interpreters, child-life specialists, etc. to assist with instruction as needed or requested.
  • Coordinates treatments with interdisciplinary services as needed.
Provide patient education to facilitate patient rehabilitation.
  • Educates each patient and/or family member regarding the status and progress of treatment.
  • Instructs patient and/or family member in appropriate exercise programs, use of devise, or transfer/lifting techniques.
  • Utilizes interpreters, etc. to assist with instruction when needed/requested.
Completion of patient documentation, including initial evaluation, progress notes, discharge summary, and patient progress reports to physicians in a timely fashion, to ensure completion of the Medical Record and enhance communication.
  • All documentation is completed within time frame according to policy.
  • Documentation includes all JC requirements (surgeries, signatures, allergies, etc.).
  • Documentation accurately reflects services provided, patient response and progress.
  • Documentation format and content are consistent with departmental dictation guides.
Patient billing is appropriate and accurately reflects the services provided for each therapy session.
  • Indicates start/stop time of treatment, indicates time spent performing all time based codes (direct contact time), and accurately bills patient from this documentation.
Demonstrates commitment to personal growth and clinical excellence.
  • Attends all departmental meetings whenever possible.
  • Attends all mandatory in-services.
  • Attends a minimum of 1 continuing education course per year.
  • Presents a staff in-service within 1 month of attendance of continuing education course.
Assists with program development, including general department programs, assists with marketing strategies and provide input to the Coordinators of these programs.
  • Participates in program development and work teams as needed.
  • Participates in community education through speaking engagements, covering health fairs or other events as needed.
  • Develops MD relationships.
  • Participates and assists with marketing strategies as needed.
Demonstrates responsibility with all job related duties.
  • Takes accountability to cover all assigned shifts.
  • Consistently clocks in and out at appropriate times correctly using KRONOS.
  • Accepts responsibility for actions and consequences.
Attitude and communication approach reflects the core values of the Rehab department.
  • Listens carefully, checks on understanding before responding and accepts and offers feedback.
  • Proactively seeks solutions to challenges within the work environment.
  • Adapts, without difficulty, to changes in assignment and environment.
Participates in the clinical instruction of Therapy students, to facilitate their education and promote the profession and department.
  • Provides supervision and guidance appropriate for each student, to ensure appropriate evaluation and treatment of patients as well as educational outcome of the student.
  • Complies with school/department requirements for supervision/feedback.
Provides appropriate care specific to the age of the patient, to ensure understanding and comfort level of Treatment, as outlined in the department "Age-Specific Competency Checklist".
  • Standard as outlined in the Age Specific Criteria.

  • Bachelor of Science degree or greater in Therapy required.
Experience

License/Certifications
  • Current Iowa therapist license required.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
  • Physical Therapist (PT) license required.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
  • Requires knowledge of therapy as demonstrated by successful completion of accredited Therapy Program.
  • Requires skills in communication, both oral and written, time management and organization, personnel management.
  • Requires the ability to work independently, adapt to a changing environment, organize and work with a variable patient load.
  • Requires the ability to conduct patient teaching and in-service presentations.
