Job Summary

We are looking for a Resident Engineer to work on major infrastructure projects located the Greater Miami-Ft. Lauderdale Area. This position will report to the Sector Manager and will be responsible for the supervision and inspection of construction work and monitoring of contractor activities for compliance with all state/district and federal laws, ordinances, regulations, and requirements. This individual must have the skills necessary to be a "problem-solver" and consensus-builder, with the ability to collaborate with others to achieve quick and effective resolutions to construction challenges.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide supervision for construction engineering and field inspections.Coordinate between field inspectors and contractor representatives to supervise the work being performed and testing being conducted.Monitor the progress of the work and report any major deviations from the schedule, contract price, or quantity of the work.Support the construction manager in project management, contract administration, and quality assurance and control.Support the Project Manager in coordination with utility companies, and all involved government agencies and public outreach with respect to all aspects of construction.Track submittals by the contractor to ensure reviews and approvals are in place before construction.Maintain records, books, docs, papers, and accounting records relevant to the cost incurred during the work performance.Perform final inspection, preparation of punch list, contract completion, final acceptance, and closeout.Attend progress meetings and prepare correspondence.Other responsibilities as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS

Professional Engineer (PE) registered in the State of Florida, or, ability to obtain a license by endorsement in the State of Florida within six months of Project NTP if registered in another state.Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management required.A Master's Degree in Engineering may be substituted for one (1) year of engineering experience.At least 12+ years of construction, architecture or civil engineering experience, 3+ years' experience as a Resident Engineer for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Miami-Dade County, Palm Beach County, and/or Broward County. This experience may include off-system Local Agency Program (LAP) projects in Florida.Two (2) of those years involved in relevant surface transportation projects, orFive (5) years of Complex Category 2 (CC2) and PTS bridge structures, orAny combination of other major infrastructure experience including, civil works, aviation, ports + marine, rail, and transit projects.Other full-time experience (such as Water Management District, USACE, FEMA, or other Federal or State agency) will be considered.

Any combination of Construction Training & Qualification Program (CTQPs) certificates including FDTO Advanced MOT and CTQP Quality Control Manager.Familiarity with the FDOT Construction Project Administration Manual processes and procedures.Must have computer skills, including the latest versions of office productivity and project management software, in daily activities.Knowledge of FDOT Construction Software or Procore or similar preferred but not required.Candidates must be able to manage TYLin Senior Construction Engineers and other staff assigned to the projects.Client-focused, always striving to give clients the best solutions.Strong commitment to innovation by creating new and better ways to solve clients' toughest challenges.High levels of integrity, always doing the right thing in an ethical, fair, and sustainable way.Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence.
