DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role is responsible for receiving assignments from their Audit Manager and ensuring that these assignments are completed by overseeing a team of professional auditors. You will review the work performed to ensure that it aligns with the objectives, accepted auditing standards, and procedures set by management. Throughout the year, you will monitor the progress to ensure that the audit plan is followed. You will also make sure that desk reviews, such as prequalification's, rearwards, and overheads, are conducted in compliance with performance standards. This includes effectively communicating any deficiencies found in consultants/contractors and conducting and reviewing desk reviews as necessary. Additionally, you will coordinate the audit work of the teams and handle administrative tasks related to computer systems activities.

You will be responsible for supervising the development of various audit-related materials, such as computer runs, permanent files, audit programs, questionnaires, and testing methodologies. These materials are developed in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards established by organizations like the U.S. General Accounting Office (GAO), the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts (AICPA), and other governmental audit agencies. You will also ensure that these materials comply with relevant state and federal laws and regulations.

As part of their role, this position evaluates the performance of the staff based on established standards. You will identify any skills that need improvement and provide guidance to the audit staff on necessary changes. After each engagement, you will complete an evaluation of the assignment.

Effective communication with the Audit Manager is crucial in this position. The supervisor maintains regular communication with the Audit Manager to provide updates on assignment progress and discuss any significant issues related to the audit work. You will provide summaries or detailed reports as required by the circumstances determined by the Audit Manager. Additionally, you will ensure timely updates of project/budget tracking tools to keep everyone informed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Travel and overnight travel will be required.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Audit Specialist 2; or
  • Three years of professional auditing experience and a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by eighteen [18] credits in accounting and auditing; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which included the required eighteen [18] credits in accounting and auditing.
