Senior Property Field Adjuster
This position handles highly complex homeowner claims matters involving material damage, property and/or liability lines of insurance written by the Interinsurance Exchange in compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements. The primary functions include investigation, evaluation, and negotiation of highest complexity claims. Employs discretion and independent judgment to ensure compliance with state and federal law; and with historical company, technical, and customer service Best Practices. This position requires leadership skills and may involve mentoring and training of less experienced personnel.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct field investigations, evaluate and estimate claim values on very severe damage including total loss fires, earthquakes, landslides, explosions and collapse. Write structural repair estimates in excess of several hundred thousand dollars.
- Determine coverage by interpreting case law, insurance codes and regulations, building codes and ordinances, and insurance contracts on a variety of complex issues; including concurrent causation, efficient proximate and predominate causes, arson, innocent co-insureds.
- Direct, communicate and interact with a variety of forensic experts including Cause and Origin Investigators, Civil, Structural and Soils Engineers and Hygienists.
- Negotiate directly with insureds, attorneys and public adjusters to resolve complicated and high value claims.
- Prepare comprehensive formal reporting on high profile claims to senior management.
- Mentor and develop lesser experienced personnel.
- Serve as management backup and complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
- Direct and interact with in-house and outside counsel on litigated files.
- Provide sworn expert testimony in Courtroom or Deposition settings.
- Be available at short notice to meet the immediate needs of the customer and mitigate losses. Perform catastrophe duty in areas that may require over-night stays. Identify cross-sell opportunities based on members' product needs and service requests. Enhance member relationship by diversifying use of products and services. Provide sales leads to insurance, travel and other departments as appropriate
Four-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience required. Evidence of continuing education (i.e. industry designations) desired.
Work Related Experience:
Experience servicing claims of the highest complexity required. Experience in multiple specialty areas preferred, i.e., MD, liability, H.O., auditing, SIU, etc. Typically has 10-20 years related experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Requirements:
- Comprehensive understanding of building repair procedures and issues.
- Moderate computer and line of business technical software skills required.
- Advanced understanding of insurance principles necessary.
- Advanced leadership skills among peers required.
- Advanced organization and planning recognition skills required
- Advanced oral and written communication skills required.
- Advanced interpersonal skills required.
Special:
Valid driver's license with level of financial responsibility required by the Club and an acceptable motor vehicle record required for the field positions. Industry designations (CPCU, AIC, etc.) highly desired
The starting pay range for this position is:
$45.59 - $60.79
