Big-D Construction, a National General Contractor of award-winning projects built by exceptional people, has a Claims Manager opportunity located in Salt Lake City, UT.

Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations:(other duties may be assigned to meet business needs)

  • Claims Management
    • Track and manage the resolution of the company's liability and damage claims, including general liability, company owned vehicles and equipment, builders risk and workers compensation
    • Work with insurance companies, brokers, adjusters, third parties and company personnel to achieve the best outcomes
    • Review the status of claims with management and provide recommendations for resolution
    • Work with management to create risk mitigation techniques and provide training to company employees
    • Provide paralegal support and expertise to the company's in-house General Counsel as needed
  • Insurance Programs
    • Assist the VP of Risk Management with the company's insurance programs including:
      • Work with brokers and insurers to purchase insurance policies for the company
      • Assist the company's project teams regarding project specific insurance policies and bonds
      • Review project owner insurance policies including Builders Risk and Owner-Controlled Insurance Programs
      • Identify loss exposures and recommend solutions
      • Promote loss prevention through training
    • Provide support to the company's captive insurance company operations
  • Risk Assessment and Improvement
    • Further the company's goal of identifying risk and creating risk mitigation strategies
    • Assist in the refinement of standard policies relating to claims reporting and risk mitigation
    • Review the company's current vehicle policy and assist in the creation of training and incentive programs to improve safe driving
Experience/Training:
  • HS with a degree in accounting or business administration preferred.
  • Previous experience in claims management with experience in a construction related field highly preferred.
  • 5-7 years of claims management experience.
