GENERAL SUMMARY AND POSITION PURPOSE

The Jena Band of Choctaw Indians (JBCI) is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic IT Assistant to join our growing team. In this role, you will provide technical support to staff and departments across the JBCI, troubleshoot technical issues, and assist with various IT projects.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or Hi-SET (GED) required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a technical support role or related field.
  • Strong understanding of computer hardware and software.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides), Unifi.
  • Strong commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Knowledge of the Tribal community and cultural sensitivity is a plus.
SPECIFIC TO JOB
  • Provide technical support to JBCI staff in a courteous and professional manner. This may include resolving issues with desktops, laptops, printers, network connectivity, and other IT equipment.
  • Troubleshoot a wide range of technical problems, diagnose root causes, and implement solutions independently or by escalating to the IT Director.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware and software according to JBCI IT policies and procedures.
  • Assist the IT Director with various IT projects, including system upgrades, software implementations, and user training.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of IT assets, software licenses, and support tickets.
  • Perform data backups and disaster recovery procedures as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and best practices in the IT field.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the IT Director.

  • Ability to occasionally travel and work irregular hours.

  • Ability to collaborate and work with other departments and directors.
COMPUTER / OFFICE EQUIPMENT SKILLS

In addition to those required for this position:
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual is required to be proficient or able to learn and use Microsoft Office software, spreadsheet software, Google Workspace, Internet, and other software programs and databases as needed.
