The RoleOur House Captain is the driving force behind the seamless operation and exceptional guest experience at Guesthouse and we are looking for someone with experience working in a fast-growing, early stage company like ours. This role demands a dynamic leader who excels in hospitality management, understands the nuances of luxury service, and is adept at strategic planning and day-to-day operations. They will oversee all aspects of the home’s operations, including guest services, housekeeping, maintenance, staffing, food & beverage, and budgeting to ensure the highest level of guest satisfaction and operational efficiency. The House Captain will work in chorus with the House Chef, housekeeping, driver, and Hub team to ensure the programming is flawlessly executed. The house Captain will report to the Head of Hospitality.

What you will do:

Operational Leadership: Oversee the entire operation of the home to ensure excellence in guest services, food quality, cleanliness, and maintenance and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency and guest satisfaction.

Financial Management: Develop and manage the annual budget, including revenue management, expense control, and profitability. Analyze financial reports and implement strategies to improve financial performance.

Team Management: Recruit, train, and lead a high-performing team. Foster a positive, service-oriented work environment. Conduct quarterly performance evaluations, set strategic goals and implement development plans for staff, all in line with Guesthouse vision.

Guest Experience: Ensure the delivery of exceptional guest experiences that align with Guesthouse Standards. Address guest concerns promptly and with a personalized approach.

Marketing and Sales: Collaborate with marketing to enhance the home’s visibility and reputation. Oversee sales strategies to maximize occupancy and revenue.

Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Maintain a safe environment for guests and staff, preventing accidents and injuries.

Facility Maintenance: This position oversees the maintenance of the property and grounds, ensuring all areas are up to luxury standards. Participates in monthly home inspections and corrects issues in a timely manner.

Community and Industry Engagement: Represent the home and greater company within the community and the hospitality industry, enhancing its reputation and networking for business opportunities.

What we need from you: 5+ years of hands-on experience in roles such as a Front of House manager, Food & Beverage director, or General Manager. You understand the critical importance of effective communication and have a proven track record of effectively managing teams, interpersonal relationships, and communicating with diverse stakeholders. Practical experience in budget management, including recipe costing and inventory control. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and a willingness to adapt and learn new technologies as required. Extensive experience in delivering effective training and coaching to teams. Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and as needed for events. Serve Safe Certification, ensuring adherence to food safety standards.
