How you will create an impact Support consistent underwriting best practices, in accordance with underwriting guidelines, to ensure rating, pricing, profitability, and structuring adequacy. Ability to exercise judgment, negotiate and make sound business decisions effectively based on increased level of authority. Responsible for assigning and managing the work of a team of underwriters. Assist underwriters in executing on strategic initiatives. Provide support and develop solutions to their issues/concerns (system, guidelines, training, reports, new project request, product amendments). Renders alternative outcomes for more difficult situations and makes real-time decisions in a fast-paced environment characterized by ambiguity and change. Assist underwriters in collaborating with Distribution, Territory Managers, and other line(s) of business underwriters to target desirable accounts and cross selling opportunities from brokers. What you’ll need to succeed Effective Team and People Manager, able to attract, engage, retain, and develop a high performing team to meet current and future business needs with ability to clearly articulate and execute plans. Commercial Insurance Company, Agency or Brokerage experience Advanced knowledge of Excess & Surplus Property line of business, including product features, forms, regulatory environment and risks etc. Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred.
