Our client is a leading fintech firm leveraging cutting-edge technology to revolutionize financial services. They are seeking a Risk Manager to join their team in Chicago. As a Risk Manager, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our organization against potential risks while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer, you will lead the development and implementation of risk management strategies to protect the integrity of our operations and uphold our commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement comprehensive risk management policies and procedures tailored to the unique needs of our fintech operations. Identify, assess, and prioritize potential risks across various business functions, including but not limited to credit risk, market risk, operational risk, and regulatory compliance risk. Monitor and analyze market trends, regulatory developments, and industry best practices to proactively identify emerging risks and opportunities. Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, including product development, legal, compliance, and finance teams, to integrate risk management considerations into business strategies and decision-making processes. Conduct risk assessments, scenario analyses, and stress tests to evaluate the resilience of our systems and processes under adverse conditions. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and controls to minimize exposure to identified risks, while balancing business objectives and regulatory requirements. Establish and maintain effective risk reporting mechanisms to provide timely and accurate information to senior management and key stakeholders. Lead investigations into risk incidents, breaches, or compliance issues, and develop remediation plans to address root causes and prevent recurrence. Foster a culture of risk awareness and accountability throughout the organization through training, communication, and ongoing support.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, risk management, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., FRM, CFA, CPA) preferred. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in risk management, preferably within the financial services or fintech industry. Demonstrated expertise in assessing and managing various types of risks, including credit, market, operational, and compliance risks. Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards relevant to fintech operations (e.g., GDPR, PSD2, AML/KYC regulations). Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and make informed recommendations. Proven track record of effectively communicating complex risk concepts to diverse audiences, including senior management and regulators. Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate future challenges and opportunities and develop proactive risk management strategies. Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across the organization. Ability to work onsite in Chicago 3-5 days per week.
