The Senior Accountant is responsible for directing the fiscal functions of COARE Communities in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) while increasing investor value through the alignment and execution of business priorities.This position is accountable for the administrative, and financial operations of the company, and also includes the development of a financial and operational strategy, with metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.Responsibilities Manage COARE's accounting activities, including establishing portfolio company procedures, internal control processes, internal and external financial reporting, and accounting policies Manage the closing process and other financial controls; assure accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with professional accounting standards and best practices in accordance with GAAP Lead the team to provide an advanced level of service and value to COARE; partner with senior leadership and business leaders to ensure priorities are aligned with corporate objectives Assist external tax team in preparing annual returns for investors Anticipate external reporting changes and identify the impact of new technical accounting pronouncements across brands Oversee general ledger functions including production, consolidation and review of monthly-consolidated reporting Oversee all property and fund accounting activities Oversee annual auditing activities and ensure compliance and timely resolution of any findings Identify opportunities for continual process improvements and cost efficiencies Prepare supporting monthly/quarterly financial reports for the executive team Develop and maintain executive reports Protect the legal, financial, and moral well-being of the Company Seek ways to improve business operations efficiencies Other responsibilities and projects as assigned Ensure that all work processes are followed, and that work is done in compliance with Fair Housing laws, rules, regulations, and policiesQualifications Accounting Degree; MACC preferred Experience across a broad range of financial disciplines such as accounting, finance, tax, audit, investor relations, investments and acquisitions Excellent written and oral communication skills Track record of delivering both individual and team results Experience in real estate, property management, or manufactured home communities preferred Experience in budget creation and profit & loss management preferred Ability to solve problems and innovate when needed Ability to learn and apply new information quickly and consistently Recover quickly from setbacksREPORTS TO:Vice President of Operations JOB CATEGORY:Finance POSITION CLASS: Exempt Physical AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
