POSITION SUMMARY

The Culinary Services Aide must assist the cook in the preparation and service of meals meeting scheduled meal times. Will follow established policies and procedures for the Culinary Services Department and promote food service standards through cost, quality and quantity controls. Provides meal service that meets the desires of the resident, by allowing as much choice as possible and giving food service that preserves the element of personal dignity.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Provide Assistance in Assuring Adequate Food and Nutritional Services that meet the individual needs of the resident
  • Assist in setting up dining room, assembling trays, and serving residents in a cordial and friendly manner.
  • Presents meals and offers alternating consistently and professionally.
  • Assist in tray assembly, tray/cart delivery and communication to nursing staff upon delivery.
  • Assist in dining room and kitchen clean up.
  • Assist in checking in-coming supplies, following proper method of storing items, as designated.
  • Monitor food temperature as delegated.
To Know and Follow Sanitation and Safety Procedures as Outlined by Monarch Healthcare Management
  • Standard precautions will be utilized, paying particular attention to following good handwashing techniques.
  • Uses equipment properly and according to manufacturers’ specifications. Reports equipment in need of repair to supervisor or Maintenance Director.
  • Maintains standard of food handling and sanitation as defined by Monarch Healthcare Management safety policies and procedures.
  • Uses proper body mechanics in lifting, mixing, and completing all job tasks. Handles dishes carefully to avoid breakage or cracking.
  • Knows and participates in the fire, tornado and disaster drills, and other emergency procedures.
  • Keeps the environment neat, orderly and safe, keeping floors free of spills and dry at all times.
  • Follows sanitation and safety techniques in operation and cleaning specified equipment. Uses good decision making in the above type assignments.
Maintains Current Levels of Education and Facilitate the Implementation of New Policies and Procedures with the Facility
  • Attends continuing education/in-services pertinent to your department and designated by the ADON.
  • Uses all chemicals and equipment safely and using proper equipment; i.e., gloves, goggles, etc.
  • Attends all staff education of the Rehabilitation Center relating to safety, infection control and disease process.
  • Maintains and applies knowledge of current policies and procedures as it relates to your job responsibilities.
FACILITY COMPLIANCE
  • Promotes a highly positive workplace centered on strong customer service, inclusivity and ensuring staff feel welcome and supported
  • Attends educational programs on Continuous Quality Improvement, customer satisfaction and other such programs. Further completes audits as designated
  • Is knowledgeable of and abides by the importance of the Residents’ Bill of Rights

QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience
  • Must have a desire and commitment to work with geriatric residents and understand their special needs.
  • Must be able to follow directions, cooperates with co-workers and perform assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with residents, families and staff and follow supervisor directions.
  • Must be able to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must qualify for employment, after criminal background study, per guidelines of the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
Preferred
  • Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing facility or assisted living community
