The position, Senior Financial Analyst, is part of the FP&A team which is responsible for all planning, analysis and management reporting for Universal Insurance Holding, Inc. This position reports to the Director of FP&A. The Senior Financial Analyst, will be responsible to cross train with the Director all FP&A deliverables, learning the workflows, and technology in place with the group, which includes Workday Adaptive Planning, Workday, and Workiva. Your initial responsibilities will include updating and producing forecasts and analysis of financial results, including assisting in the production of management reporting such as Briefing Books, Management Reports, Board Books, and others. Your responsibilities will include assisting the Director of FP&A in all department deliverables.

Responsibilities includes the following areas:

Develop an understanding of the technology and processes in place that accumulates financial data for reporting needs. Become proficient with Workday, Adaptive Planning, and Workiva along with other financial applications Perform Financial Planning & Analysis activities including variance analysis, forecasting revenues and expenses, to support company-wide projections. Maintains liaisons and collaborates with other functional areas of the Company to develop insight and trends in updating forecast assumptions, analyze variances, and develop recommendations. Prepares and validates financial reporting packages, including management reports, premium reports, briefing books, and board books. Develops new reports using Adaptive's Office Connect capability. Performs quality control and verification on all reporting before distribution. Maintains the G&A expense forecasts and works with the Treasury group in order to identify emerging expense trends. Maintains data links in Adaptive Planning and Workday, running actuals loader, validating data imports, and maintaining account and level mappings. Work on various projects as they emerge, including process and workflow improvements, developing additional forecasting capabilities withing Adaptive, capital modelling, etc. Works toward obtaining Workday Pro Adaptive Planning certification

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (MBA preferred) 3-5 years of progressive experience in FP&A roles, with a demonstrated track record of successfully forecasting, performing variance analysis, and financial reporting. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in preparing financial reporting packages and on report quality control. Able to work independently in a proactive manner, managing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in the P&C insurance industry, with a knowledge of both GAAP and STAT accounting standards Knowledge or ERP systems, experience in Workday Adaptive Planning a large plus
