Production Manager

As the Production Manager you will be responsible for controlling the production processes to ensure efficient production of high-quality products within the PPG Aerospace unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing, leadership skills, and a proven track record of optimizing production processes. This position is based onsite in our Wallingford, CT facility. You will report to the Plant Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Manages production supervisors and manufacturing teams to ensure timely and accurate production needs are met, according to customer expectations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, planning, supply chain, and QA to ensure smooth production operations((Goals))
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and minimize downtime((Team structure))
- Manage and optimize inventory levels to ensure adequate stock availability while minimizing carrying costs
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure proper maintenance and availability of production equipment
- Train, mentor, and supervise production staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the production team.
- Monitor and control production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards, cost targets, and delivery schedules.
- Monitor and analyze production data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Production/Operations Management, or a related field OR a High School Diploma with equivalent experience in lieu of a college degree.
- At least 5 years' experience supervising a production function within an Aerospace or other highly regulated industry.
- Prior experience with production/enterprise management systems required; QAD or SAP preferred.
- Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts, and ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Direct supervisory experience, with management responsibilities for technical and non-technical employees.
