Responsible for conducting research and development in optical system concepts, layout, and detailed design, applying knowledge of geometrical and physical optics. Apply research results to achieve desired results in hardware. Initiate / support optics related manufacturing producibility or cost savings activities. Maintain the overall system optical prescription and tolerance analyses and update as required.Basic Qualifications:A Bachelor's degree in electrical or optical engineering from an accredited 4-year college or university required.Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret ClearanceDesired Skills:Familiar with lens materials and window coatings, and lens and window fabricationFamiliar with lens and window assembly, and optical system test and performance evaluationAble to work in mutli-functional engineering teams with mechanical, opto- mechanical, electrical, thermal, structural, aerodynamic, software, system, and test engineers.Experience with lens and optical design toolsExperience with IR missile seeker development, including design, assembly, integration, bench test performance testing, environmental testing, HWIL testing, and flight testing.Familiarity with cryo-cooled and uncooled detector technology and gimbal system design and performanceFamiliarity thermal, structural, and aerodynamics modelling and simulationFamiliar with multi-physics toolsSecurity Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.Clearance Level: SecretOther Important Information You Should KnowExpression of Interest: By applying to this job, you are expressing interest in this position and could be considered for other career opportunities where similar skills and requirements have been identified as a match. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed.
