In your role as an engineer at Horizon Surgical Systems, you will design components and systems (hardware and software) as part of a complete product subjected to FDA regulations. Your design will be subject to safety and efficacy requirements.

The level of title will be determined case by case, based on the candidate's qualifications and years of experience: senior engineer, staff engineer, or higher.

Required Qualifications and Abilities:

  • Education and Working Experience:
    • Bachelor (with at least 3 years of industrial experience), or Masters Degree (with at least 2 years of industrial experience) in Computer Science / Electrical Engineering / Computer Engineering
    • 3-5 years of software development experience for robotics product, ideally with 3+ years in a regulated product development or medical device manufacturing environment
  • Required Qualifications:
    • Experience in developing software for robotic systems with imaging and real-time application of AI/ML models designed for computer vision problems
    • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python
    • Proficiency in AI/ML and computer vision libraries such as Tensorflow, Pytorch, TensorRT, OpenCV
    • Experience with ROS2/ROS
    • Proficiency in software version control (e.g. Git)
    • Familiarity with CUDA
    • Experience with real-time Linux
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in development of autonomous systems
    • Is a plus: FPGA for AI/ML models
  • Responsibilities:
    • Design, develop, and test software for robotic systems with AI/ML models
    • Optimize deep learning models for deployment and inference
    • Design and configure computing hardware for optimal operation of AI/ML models
    • Perform system performance analysis and improve the performance
    • Perform risk assessments, and design and implement safety algorithms
    • Document requirements, risks, test protocols to support the regulatory approval process such as the FDA
