Johns Hopkins All Childrens Hospital Pulmonology Program has an excellent opportunity for a Division Chief. The Chief will lead the divisions clinical and educational services to our growing Pediatric Pulmonology and Cystic Fibrosis programs. 1. Clinical and Leadership Responsibilities: Clinical Leadership: As the Division Chief, you will lead a team of 5 Pediatric Pulmonologists and 2 APRNs (and the team is growing), providing strategic leadership in clinical practice. This would involve setting the clinical vision, guiding best practices, and ensuring high-quality patient care. Program Growth: Youd be working to expand and further develop both the pediatric pulmonary and cystic fibrosis programs, which would likely involve building relationships with community pediatricians, researchers, and healthcare professionals. As the team grows, youd also be responsible for resource allocation, ensuring that both staff and patients have the tools they need to succeed. 2. Educational Component: Teaching and Mentorship: This position will involve teaching residents, fellows, and other medical professionals. Youd have the opportunity to shape the next generation of pediatric pulmonologists, providing mentorship and guidance to trainees in both clinical and research settings. Academic Collaboration: Johns Hopkins is a prestigious academic institution, so part of the role may involve academic publishing, collaboration with other experts, and contributing to advancements in pediatric pulmonology research. 3. Cystic Fibrosis Focus: Cystic Fibrosis Care Center: The program is accredited by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as a Care Center. The Division Chief would play a pivotal role in continuing to develop this program and ensuring it maintains its high standards of care. This would involve oversight of clinical protocols, patient support, and the latest treatments for cystic fibrosis. Multidisciplinary Collaboration: The Center of Excellence aspect means theres an emphasis on collaboration with specialists in other fields (e.g., nutrition, social work, physical therapy, etc.) to provide holistic care for children with CF. Research and Clinical Trials: Being in an academic environment, this could also involve being at the forefront of clinical research or trials in cystic fibrosis, which is a rapidly advancing field with new therapies and treatments emerging regularly. 4. Team Dynamics and Culture: Engaged and Collaborative Team: The emphasis on teamwork is key in this role. Leading a team of experts in pulmonary care will require not just clinical expertise, but also strong leadership and communication skills. The hospital values teamwork, so fostering an environment of mutual respect and collaboration will be essential. Supportive Environment: The mention of an unequaled talent of dedicated nurses and staff indicates that JHACH places a high value on supporting their physicians. This could mean a strong administrative structure, access to the latest technologies, and a supportive network for personal and professional growth. 5. Benefits and Work-Life Balance: Excellent Benefits Package: Beyond the standard medical, dental, and vision benefits, the inclusion of a Public Student Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) makes this opportunity particularly attractive for those with education debt. This is especially appealing in healthcare leadership roles where loan forgiveness programs can significantly ease financial burdens. Work-Life Balance: Hospitals like JHACH that emphasize teamwork and provide a robust benefits package often place a high value on work-life balance, which is critical for leaders in high-stress healthcare environments. 6. Qualifications and Preparation: To apply for this Division Chief role, you would likely need: Board Certification in Pediatric Pulmonology: A strong clinical background in pediatric pulmonology is a must. If you also have subspecialty training or experience in cystic fibrosis, that would be highly beneficial. Leadership Experience: Previous experience in a leadership or managerial role would be critical. This could include experience as an Assistant or Associate Division Chief, program director, or director of a specialized pediatric care unit. Academic Credentials: Experience in teaching, mentoring, or conducting research in a pediatric pulmonology or cystic fibrosis setting would be an asset. This would align with JHACHs emphasis on education and research. Strong Communication Skills: The ability to lead and communicate effectively with a diverse team, including nurses, physicians, and administrative staff, will be critical for success. 7. What Makes This Opportunity Unique: Reputation and Prestige: Johns Hopkins All Childrens Hospital has an outstanding reputation in the healthcare community, and this is an opportunity to further enhance that reputation in the field of pediatric pulmonology and cystic fibrosis care. Impactful Work: Leading a team that supports children with critical and chronic respiratory conditions allows you to make a meaningful, long-term impact on the lives of both patients and families. Collaborative Environment: The emphasis on collaboration with different healthcare disciplines, as well as the support from a team of nurses and staff, helps create a highly supportive environment for both the staff and patients. JHM prioritizes the health and well-being of every employee. Come be healthy at Hopkins Diversity and Inclusion are Johns Hopkins Medicine Core Values. We are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment, where we embrace and celebrate our differences, where all employees feel valued, contribute to our mission of serving the community, and engage in equitable healthcare delivery and workforce practices.
