Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in formal change control environments and possess strong troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

Administer and maintain our predominantly Sybase environment, with a focus on assisting with the transition to a pure SQL Server environment over the next three years. Manage Sybase ASE 15.7 databases running on Solaris in an X86 hardware environment, both on-premises and in Azure. Assist in running and developing CRON jobs, utilizing Unix command line experience. Collaborate with senior DBAs to handle afterhours implementations and reduce overall workload. Perform routine tasks such as weekly data fixes on Thursdays and Fridays. Support SQL Server environments of mixed versions on mixed versions of Windows Server. Work with clusters and Disaster Recovery processes in development, test, and production environments. Participate in the migration from Sybase to SQL Server, leveraging strong experience in database migrations.

Requirements

Proven experience in formal change control environments. Strong troubleshooting skills. Familiarity with Sybase ASE 15.7 and SQL Server. Unix background with experience in CRON jobs and command line operations. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment. Experience with Windows Server and SQL Server administration. Knowledge of Disaster Recovery principles and practices. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Desired experience in database migration from Sybase to SQL Server.
