Benefis Health System, a large trauma center in Great Falls, Montana, has a rare opening for an Emergency Medicine Physician to join our team of board-certified physicians and emergency trained advanced practice providers.
Department Information
- 33 bed beautiful Emergency Department with recent $12m complete remodel
- 9 bed RME Unit
- 11 bed Critical Care Unit
- 13 bed Clinical Decision Unit
- High acuity department with 30-35% admission rate
- Large air ambulance program - fixed wing jet and helicopter completing 3-4 missions a day, 900-1100 flights annually - flight team is based in ED (Adult, OB and NICU specific flight teams on call)
- 10 hour shifts, approximately 14 shifts per month
- Great staffing model to promote dedicated, safe patient care - currently staffed with 50 hours of physician coverage daily with APCs and hiring to expand to dual physician coverage 24 hours per day
- Ample opportunities to participate in medical student and postgraduate medical education
- Innovative technology throughout department including:
- IV pumps programed by chars
- Bedside ultrasound in all trauma bays
- CT, x-ray and ultrasound live in ED footprint
- 2 way radio real time communication
- Tele-stroke, tele-neuro services
- Dedicated ED communication center for all transports/external transfers
- Extremely low turnover, our first posted physician opening in over 7 years due to changes in staffing model

Benefis Health System is one of Montana's largest tertiary trauma centers. We are proud to be a standalone, financially stable community health system with strong, dedicated leadership focused on providing the best patient care in Montana, in addition to being awarded Becker's "Best Places To Work in Healthcare" for 7 years (and currently the only Montana hospital on the list). Benefis covers ¼ of the state's land mass, an area comparable in size to Kansas and can provide care for everything except for burns and organ transplants.
