Senior Cost Analyst at Wampum, PA

Purpose:

Work to ensure the financial integrity of the Vesuvius business unit, including an accurate and timely close (both P&L and B/S). Accountable for ongoing development and maintenance of product costs; partner with operations to trace costs back to underlying business activities. Support business as partner to Plant Manager to drive plant savings

Dimensions of Position:

• Manage the financial accounts of the entity, including monthly accruals, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
• Establish and maintain an environment of controls and compliance in line with Vesuvius standards during transition from family business to public company
• Analyze manufacturing variances to understand financial performance in cooperation with operations team and identify improvement opportunities
• Responsible for managing and updating standard costs in local ERP system; costing support will include actual products as well as new product inquiries
• Support and provide input into planning, budgeting and forecasting processes
• Produce ad hoc reports as required to enable decision making

• Accuracy and timeliness of month end close
• Internal and external audit performance
• Gross margin and inventory for business unit

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in relevant business or technical field
• 3+ years of experience with financial controls in a manufacturing setting
• 5+ years of experience with cost accounting in a manufacturing setting
• Prior work with ERP software preferred; JD Edwards a plus
• Expert knowledge of cost accounting and financial accounting
• Working knowledge of MS Office with strength in MS Excel
