Job Description:

This site is our center of excellence for development as well as high-complexity production programs where we produce and develop a variety of energetic assemblies for rocket propulsion.

This position operates a CNC lathe to make parts, mechanisms, tools or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions. Works under general supervision and following established instruction. Performs assignments requiring general use and application of concepts, practices, and techniques.

Essential Functions:

  • Fabricates piece parts per work instructions, drawings and specifications through the use of required machine tools.
  • Inspects piece parts per work instruction and drawing requirements.
  • Operates machine tools. Will machine energetic materials remotely.
  • The machinist may need to work weekends and off hour shifts to maintain schedule.
  • Uses, adjusts, cleans and stores the tools, machinery and equipment used.
  • Keeps records and reports of the use of equipment.
  • May assist in making estimates of the time and materials required to complete an assignment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior machinist experience or 2 years post. Secondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior machinist experience.
  • Requires manual/CNC experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Associate's degree in Machine Tool Technology a plus.
  • Familiarization of machine tools and equipment, machine shop procedures and practices, principals and properties is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematic principles to solve problems is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and relate to all levels of employees is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license is preferred.
