Primary Responsibilities:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for directing and coordinating the daily operations of the Foundry and Special Products employees. Direct operations to ensure customers' expectations for quality and on-time delivery are met.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate Production activities through working with other departmental managers to ensure manufacturing objectives are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Establish and monitor department performance for production and quality standards ensuring standard operating procedures are adhered to and sustained.
- Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight and repair expenses.
- Provides direction, development and leadership to production leads.
- Communicate the company's strategy and mission and implement appropriate coaching/corrective practices to align personnel with company goals.
- Provide leadership and training to ensure a robust retention plan is in place for all key positions and systematic process is in place for upgrading employee skills and engaging employees to reach their potential.
- Develop and implement improved operating methods and procedures to increase department productivity.
- Assist with problems as necessary to meet planned production schedules and to ensure product quality standards are maintained.
- Must be able to proactively work with maintenance and plant personnel to plan the maintenance needs of the plant to ensure continued operations and that downtime is minimized.
- Promote the use of Lean Manufacturing and assure that production costs are managed.
- Combine experience of Quality, Lean, OEE, and 6S tools to analyze a wide range of problems and formulate solutions to meet departmental objectives.
- Recommend and establish department organization and responsibilities to meet planned objectives.
- Evaluate and recommend equipment purchases to improve product operations.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 5 yrs. experience of manufacturing manager experience (Foundry preferred)
- Demonstrated strong leadership, team building and advanced coaching skills.
- Previous experience / best practices implementing and using continuous improvement tools such as Lean, 6S, Six Sigma, etc.
- Must have experience with an ERP/MRP system in a production environment, high level of Microsoft Office programs, and critical thinking skills.
- Must be able to interact with all levels and departments within company; work under minimal supervision; and have an ability to rely on experience and sound judgement to accomplish goals.
- Bachelors Degree - preferably in Engineering or Metallurgy.
- Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning.
Working Hours and Conditions, including Travel Required:
Salaried Exempt, limited travel, loud noise, exposure to environmental heat, some exposure to outdoor environment/elements.
