Position Overview
Plans and performs professional engineering assignments usually associated with research design or development, manufacturing engineering, or part of a major engineering project. Evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, utilizing knowledge and judgement in making adaptations and modifications. Assure that proper dissemination of key values occurs within department.
Areas of Focus
Working process changes and modifications as requirements of quality system. Works directly with manufacturing to champion scrap reduction and continuous improvement projects
Responsibilities
•Implement changes as directed through training, equipment modifications, etc.
•Document and perform tests on processes / products as directed for new product introduction or process improvement under the requirements of the NSP System
•Study and document process capability of new and existing equipment
•Make recommendations for improving capability
•Support production through troubleshooting of process / equipment that are not meeting requirements
•Study and recommend changes to process control devices as directed
•Study existing processes and design new / modified processes as needed for new product development and or process improvement
•Confers with the Quality Manager and Process Engineer on technical matters pertinent to long range planning of the production support groups and resolution of design-related production problems
•Evaluates unit processes for updating techniques, quality, and overall efficiency
•Participate with plant engineer in designing special - purpose machinery and equipment for the product lines Recommends meaningful cost reduction programs as assigned at each plant location
•Recommends and specifies new materials and / or equipment when desirable
•Participates in development of action plans to prevent recurrence of non-conformances
Basic Qualifications
•4-year engineering degree (or equivalent experience in a process engineering environment)
•4-6 years of experience in process engineering design and development, quality assurance or related fields.
•Mechanical / Equipment knowledge
•Analytical skills for troubleshooting
•Technical writing skills, computer skills
