Distribution Technical Specialist 2

Description GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Distribution Technical Specialist 2. The ideal candidate has good analytical thinking, problem-solving techniques, distribution line/joint use design experience, and excellent communication skills. This position is reported out of our Distribution group. Essential Job Duties: Design and permit distribution lines, including drawing preparation, bill of materials development, material ordering, and conducting field visits. Create detailed engineering designs for joint use infrastructure (e.g., utility poles, conduits) Use of design software such as AutoCAD, GIS, O-Calc, SPIDA Calc, or other stress-analysis software. Ability to conduct field visits and use information to create drawings. Utilize various software to create overhead and underground electrical distribution designs. Follow local utility and construction standards. Ability to learn, retain and apply on the job training and use design software packages efficiently Ability to work effectively in design teams. Ability to multitask and prioritize work. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Must be flexible to handle shifting deadlines and scope changes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work in a team setting. Other duties as assigned. Travel Details Minimal travel required for site visits (5%-30%) General Characteristics Acquires fundamental knowledge and develops skills in a specific practice area through mentored experience. Applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of a broader assignment. Understands and complies with ethical codes. Minimum Years of Experience 2+ Years of Experience Education B.S. Engineering or other technical degree Technical Responsibilities Performs basic design tasks. Assists on tasks such as: field activities, material testing, CADD work, permit applications, and report writing. Project and Task Management Responsible for personal task management and adherence to deadlines and scope. No managerial responsibilities at this level. Management Responsibility Receives close supervision on most aspects of assignments, particularly on difficult problems, and a general review of all aspects of work. Attains mentored experience from a licensed engineer. Communication Skills Possesses basic oral and written communication skills. Practices professionalism and respectful inclusion in the workplace.
