Job Description

  • Responsible for all aspects of process safety covered processes, including collection of process safety information, hazard analysis, ensuring mechanical integrity, set up of Inspect/Test/Maintain (ITM) systems, change management and safety reviews.
  • Management of Dust Hazard Analysis and recommendations for covered processes.
  • Oversee thermal safety/pressure vessel programs, which includes identification of safety devices, setting up ITM schedules, maintaining training records and coordinating 3rd party inspections for covered systems/vessels.
  • Responsible for all aspects of emergency response and business continuity. This task includes training and management of a 4-shift emergency response team and ensuring the correct evacuation and response to incidents involving fire, spill, injury, illness, severe weather, and workplace violence. This responsibility further requires upkeep of the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and managing site BCP exercises.
  • System ownership - Compliance with regulations and Duracell guidelines for a variety of programs, which may include safety management systems, fall protection, crane/hoist/sling, confined space entry, contractor management, etc.
  • Support a team of HSES professionals to promote a culture of safety at the site. For example, track department safety compliance and manage rewards and recognition.
  • Create and track HSES goals/metrics and be involved in the Daily Direction Setting (DDS) of individual production teams.
  • Audit/perform risk assessments and use hierarchy of controls to address risks.
  • Identify and monitor Significant Injury or Fatality (SIF) related incidents and support HSES investigations using appropriate root cause tools (6W2H, Cause Mapping, etc.)
  • Support the new hire and annual HSES training plan.
  • Able to manage multiple projects/initiatives with great attention to detail.
  • Displays excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to coach/train various size groups and give effective presentations.
  • Must be technical, think critically, and have great problem-solving skills.
  • Exhibits a high level of integrity.
  • Excellent organization and record/permit management.
  • Meet deadlines and be able to adapt in a fast-paced, continually changing environment.
  • ISO/NIOSH Management System experience a plus.
  • Safety-related certification preferred (ASP/CSP, CIH, CHMM, CCPS, etc.).

Qualifications
  • Degree in occupational safety or related discipline.
  • 5 - 7 years of safety related experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Adept at developing/maintaining/communicating HSES policies and programs.
  • Proficient at understanding and applying NFPA/OSHA requirements.
  • Able to manage multiple projects/initiatives with great attention to detail.
  • Displays excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to coach/train various size groups and give effective presentations.
