My work is meaningful, I found purpose, I wake up every day knowing I am making a difference."What's different about this opportunity?The Volunteer Coordinator reports to the Chief Advancement Officer and works with colleagues, volunteers, and vendors to plan, manage, and execute the organization's volunteer efforts. The Volunteer Coordinator oversees/ coordinates/ represents the interests of the Volunteer Services department, including recruitment and onboarding; training; creating and managing procedures; engaging and cultivating volunteers; and ensuring Volunteer Services efforts align with Medicare Conditions of Participation and the organization's overall goals.Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will supervise volunteers, third-party vendor relationships, and potentially full- or part-time employees or interns in the future.Schedule: 30 hours weeklyDuties and Responsibilities1. Compliancea. Responsible for maintaining complete and accurate volunteer personnel files, competency requirements, and credentials.b. Understand and maintain department goals and objectives, e.g., assignment fulfillment metrics; maintain the requirement that volunteers perform 5% of direct patient care hours.c. Provide weekly, monthly, and annual reports.2. Volunteer Management and Developmenta. Lead creation and review of Hospice volunteer policies & procedures.b. Supervise volunteers to ensure that all policies & procedures are followed.c. Develop job descriptions for all volunteer positions: Administrative, Bereavement, Community Care, Community Events, Residence, and Veteran Volunteers.d. Expand volunteer population, training, and engagement. Solicit new volunteers. Provide skills training for current volunteers ranging from direct patient care to navigating technology. Create opportunities for current volunteers to engage with each other, creating camaraderie amongst volunteers and by positions.e. Build relationships with external volunteer agencies and opportunities, e.g., Orange County and Sullivan County Offices of the Aging.f. Build relationships between the Volunteer Services department and other departments to enhance understanding of volunteer services and maximize utilization of volunteers.g. Database management. Proficient use of applicable databases to maintain tracking of volunteers, volunteers' availability, volunteer hours worked, hours worked towards assignments, and assignment records. Inclusive or hourly rates for volunteer duties.h. Support volunteers with administrative needs.3. Volunteer Assignmentsa. Work to increase volunteer assignment fulfillment rates.b. Provide volunteers with the necessary information to perform tasks (HIPAA compliance).c. Responsible for ensuring that volunteers are submitting appropriate documentation.d. Follow up and support assignment requestors and volunteers to ensure success.e. Notify volunteers of assignment status changes.f. Minimum 5 years office experience with 2-3 years direct volunteer coordination experience.3. Supervisory experience required.
