Our ME will report to the Engineering Manager and will be responsible for developing well-engineered mechanical designs, modifications to existing production equipment, work cells, and production lines, as well as test and special process systems.The ME will use SolidWorks to produce layouts, assembly-level and detailed drawings, bills of materials, and specifications. In this leadership role, the ME will set the standard for teamwork communication, design consistency, accuracy, efficiency, and quality documentation for the project team. The ME will embody our company culture with integrity and professional competence and must thrive on variety and enjoy taking on new challenges.The position is physically located in our Rome, GA facility. This is not a remote position and requires physical presence in the office daily. Normal work schedule is M-F 8AM - 5PM.PRINCIPAL DUTIESDesignDesign of flexible shafts, the associate components, and manufacturing equipmentKnowledge of PPAP, PFD, PFMEA, and control plan creation and upkeep.Troubleshoot new and existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes.Provides detailed technical guidance and training to machine operators, Mechanics, and Mechanical Technicians.Develops and documents standard training practicesCreates and maintains mechanical drawings for new and current models.Participates in review of customer requirements (new products or changes) and feasibility reviews.ProcessSupport with product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.Identify opportunities to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of modern processing technology.Conducts performance analysis to reduce processing cost through creative engineering and proactive procedures.Determines root causes to failure and recommends changes in design and processing methods.Project ManagementSupport and develop a strong team that is cross functional across all departments.Generate, maintain and adhere to project expense and capital budgets.Ensure Engineering work orders and costing assigned are processed on time (KPIs).Interact with production personnel on possible new or existing production and/or processes.Ability to manage Engineering projects and ensure project objectives are met.Manage the launch of new or significantly changed products. Working with Production for trials and engineering samples with departments to ensure the smooth and effective transition of said changes and the associated processes including equipment, tooling, and work instructions.QUALIFICATIONS [Education.Knowledge.Experience]BS in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent experienceMinimum of 3 - 5 years experience in mechanical, system design, and 3D CAD design.Minimum of 2 years experience as a designer and draftsperson, designing tool from sketches or verbal concepts.Knowledge of basic GD&TProficient with SolidWorks 3D modeling package.Ability to concept and design solutions that are economical and technically sound.Knowledge of the use of pneumatics, as well as the use of electrical devices such as switches, servo systems, etc.Ongoing knowledge of leading-edge technology is essential.Strong sense of urgency and time management skills.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to clearly communicate information and ideas both verbally and in writingAbility to listen to, read and understand information and ideas communicated verbally and in writing.Work Environment and Physical DemandsOccasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.Regularly required to sit, stand, ben, crouch and walkMust frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
