The Opportunity:
Glanbia is seeking a dedicated, focused, and purposeful technical leader to join our Global team as a Global Quality and Food Safety Senior Manager. This role is integral to the continued development and effective roll out of Group-wide programs in Quality and Food Safety. This permanent position will report to the VP Global Quality & Regulatory Affairs and duties will include but are not limited to the following;
- Develop and deploy comprehensive global programs in collaboration with business unit leaders.
- Lead the development and sharing of best practices and emerging issues/initiatives impacting Glanbia's Quality and Food Safety programs.
- Manage direct reports in the mission of the global quality and food safety team.
- Implement Group reporting processes as formal, routine processes.
- Collaborate with the Group ESG function to meet and exceed ESG regulatory requirements, Sustainability investor rating agency criteria, and voluntary disclosures.
- Represent Glanbia in professional organizations to drive best practice, influence industry direction, and build peer review assessments.
- Develop long-term strategic direction across business units, including target setting and ambition.
- Advocate and lead for the Glanbia Quality System (GQS) across the organization.
- Collaborate with the GN Quality, Food Safety, and Regulatory leadership team to create and implement a strategy for Quality, Food Safety, and Regulatory at GN.
- Provide training and competency verification on new GQS Standards/Requirements to key leaders at site and business unit level.
- Lead during external reviews/audits of Glanbia's food safety programs for global customers, regulatory bodies, and industry panels/advocacy groups.
- Develop new policies for end-to-end programs based on industry best practices and emerging regulations and standards.
- Lead internal auditing programs in quality and food safety to measure compliance of Glanbia facilities versus best practice standards.
- Lead Glanbia's Food Safety and Quality Culture Strategy across the entire organization.
- Manage the global Quality and Food Safety program inclusive of critical incident reporting, 3rd party certification, and internal GQS audits/self-assessments.
- Develop basic awareness/training materials for new policies and standards.
- A Bachelor's degree is essential, while a Master's degree will be highly advantageous. Specialization in Food Science or a related scientific field is preferred.
- Site operational level experience within Glanbia or in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical or dietary supplements industry.
- Strong understanding and experience with global regulations pertaining to Food Safety, including FDA's FSMA and Food Safety Plan requirements.
- Expertise in GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) standards, such as SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000, IFS, etc.
- Understanding of requirements related to ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standards) and GRI (Global Reporting Initiative).
- Candidates from compliance, auditing related functions or R&D will also be considered.
- A history of progressive leadership capabilities in Quality, Food Safety & Process Improvement.
- Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment related to process/engineering and equipment design standards impacting Food Safety.
- Training and/or proven experience in Food Safety (HACCP) programs/emerging regulations.
- Success in the development and implementation of data reporting standards and dashboards in a multi-site/regional or global organization.
- Understanding and/or aptitude in the application of workflow and tools.
- Demonstrated people and project management skills.
- Strong attention to accuracy and detail in their daily work, and a high level of accomplishment and motivation.
- Dedication to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers.
- Ability to leverage results with a wide range of subject matter experts which are geographically disseminated and without direct line reporting responsibility.
- Comfortable interaction with mid-level and senior leadership roles across the organization.
- Possesses motivational skills oriented towards encouraging people's best performance possible.
- Capable of up to 40% travel.

Where and how you will work
The position offers the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule. The ideal location for this in the Chicagoland area, Chicago, IL. However, remote work is also permitted, and a hybrid arrangement can be accommodated after a training period.
