**Project Manager/Buyer**

Project Managers/Buyers are the key liaison between Product Development and HMH Operations teams They are responsible for ensuring the on-time delivery of all products in the programs that fall under their portfolio.

This position will help define project plans and timelines, track and report progress and changes and coordinate information flow amongst all stakeholders. Project Managers/Buyers are responsible for Purchase Requisition to Purchase Order conversion. They oversee the execution of the product from product inspection throughout the lifecycle of the product

**Primary Accountabilities:**

* Communication

+ Building collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders

+ Attend regular meetings with stakeholders to determine information required for planning new products and reprints

+ Advise upstream partners in Production and Editorial on manufacturing efficiency, optimal print lead-times, and file preparation.

+ Place work with our print partners and communicate decision to all stakeholders

+ Work with supply planning on best methods of manufacturing (digital vs. offset; domestic vs. offshore, etc.)

+ Question anything that does not make sense and will cost the company excessively or be non-scalable. Escalate appropriately.

+ Create reports and documentation and work in report systems per departmental standards.

+ Track production and vendor schedules. Monitor/negotiate changes as necessary.

+ Ensure file shipments to printers are complete

+ Develop print strategy with documentation for assigned projects.

+ Convert Purchase Requisitions to Purchase Orders

* Financial Responsibilities

+ Supply preliminary, revised, and final costs for assigned programs.

+ Investigate possible cost savings opportunities.

* Offering Management

+ Keep abreast of dates and product offerings

**Required**

* Understanding of Supply Chain processes and practices

* Ability to consistently meet deadlines

* Ability to influence others through use of clear and concise communications, both written and oral

* BS/BA Degree or equivalent experience

* Proficient computer skills especially in Excel and Powerpoint

* High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others

* Strong organizational and time management skills

* Proficiency with SAP R/3 is desirable but not required

* Previous experience as a buyer is desirable but not required

* K-12 Educational Publishing experience desirable but not required

* Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).

The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.

Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
