The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, a non-profit membership service organization located near the White House is seeking a Publications Coordinator for its Printing and Publications Department.

This person in this role will coordinate, review, edit and proof two bi-monthly publicationsthe Daughters newsletter and the award-winning American Spirit Magazine with 50,000 subscriptions - the magazine section on the DAR website and will oversee and manage the advertising process and coordinate with various levels of the society for inclusion in our newsletter.

This position is eligible for a hybrid remote schedule after successful onboarding.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Compiles comments, features, articles, query letters or other materials for inclusion in the magazine and newsletter.
  • Works with leadership to develop and finalize annual newsletter editorial schedule and issues deadlines for time sensitive content.
  • Serve as a point of contact with members at various levels regarding ad layout placement, corrections, and updates.
  • Reviews, proofreads and edits for clarity, style, grammar, and readability of text and articles.
  • Evaluates all ads to ensure consistency, clarity, and adherence to formatting standards.
  • Will assess the layouts of the magazine, newsletter, and artwork throughout multiple productions stages.
  • Coordinates with staff and leadership on final layouts of the newsletter and magazine and incorporates any changes.
  • Processes and reconciles all advertising payments and deposits and maintains appropriate payment records.
  • Manages social media postings to correspond with specific magazine editions.
Qualifications and Job Requirements
  • College degree in English, journalism, communications or related field, or an equivalent of education plus experience is required.
  • Minimum of two years working on print and/or digital publications doing writing, proofreading, and editing publications is required.
  • Advanced proficiency in publishing software, Microsoft Office Suite, InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Proven command of editorial, grammatical, writing skills and techniques.
  • Experience working with publishing vendors is required.
  • Strong knowledge of standard print publishing concepts, best practices, and procedures.
  • Advanced project management skills which include a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, ability to coordinate projects effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively and professionally with members, leadership, and the public.
Benefits:
  • Hiring salary range is from mid $40,00's to the mid $50,000's, with the final determination based upon the candidate's overall experience.
  • This position can be considered for hybrid remote work-after onboarding and training.
