Job Summary:

This role is part of our DevOps department and is focused on the DevOps tools and applications that run our CI/CD automation. The role will have a strong focus on dashboard creation for monitoring tools including Datadog and Splunk. Acts as primary support as well as escalation point of contact on large or multiple systems with significant impact across the firm. Engineers solutions to complex technology problems at both a tactical and strategic level. Extensive contact with internal customers, other technology professionals, and vendors is required to identify, research, analyze, and resolve system issues and problems. Can integrate domain knowledge with an understanding of financial services standards and practices. Is the primary on complex or escalated issues and may provide direction and guidance to more junior team members. Applies specialized business knowledge and technical skills to significant deliverables and projects that involve multiple IT departments or business units and have enterprise impact. Handles complex problems independently and demonstrates analytical thinking. Can make judgments and recommendations based on the analysis and interpretation of data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Engineers new automated ways to support systems that run our DevOps tools. Main responsibility is Systems Engineering with a focus on scripting/automation, Monitoring, Data aggregation and Analysis and presentation. Engineers, Manages and maintains complex systems. Performs implementations and upgrades in compliance with security guidelines with an emphasis on training more junior members of the team to do those tasks. Ensures availability, security and integrity of assigned systems. Engineers improvements for how the team monitors systems, including setting alerts to maintain the stability of the environment and monitoring error logs while developing ways to create single views of complex systems. Evaluates and identifies ways to automate, streamline, and improve day-to-day maintenance and administrative practices. Installs or coordinates installation of patches and releases on development, test, pre-production, and production systems using scripts with an emphasis on identifying migration to Kubernetes from VM. Ensures adherence to Service Level Agreements regarding application availability. Serves as a central point of contact and as a liaison to other IT departments and vendors regarding installations, server maintenance, licensing and upgrade issues. Effectively manages communication between end users, vendors, and IT departments to solve production, pre-production, and test environment problems quickly. Creates and maintains accurate system documentation for assigned systems with an emphasis on training junior members of the team. Maintains current description and documentation of application configuration, including tracking and documenting any changes to environments. Assists in capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning on assigned systems. Participates in business continuity and disaster recovery planning, including assisting with fault tolerance and disaster recovery plans. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education/Previous Experience:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or related degree and three to five (3-5) years of relevant experience in systems or application administration or a combination of education, training and experience.
