Introduction: Aspen Medical has an exciting opportunity for OB/GYN Physicians to partner with us in providing temporary contracted medical services to Military Treatment Facilities throughout the United States. Today’s posting will place you at the primary location of the Evans Army Community Hospital at Fort Carson, Colorado. This opportunity allows employees to work with the federal government, offering competitive compensation and a strong work-life balance. Hospital: Evans Army Community Hospital (EACH) Location: United States, Fort Carson, CO. Minimum Qualifications: Degree/Education: Physician, OB/GYN shall have a doctorate degree from an accredited college approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association or Doctor of Osteopathy from a college accredited by the American Osteopathic Association. Graduates of foreign medical schools are required to possess both a medical license and other certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) or 5th Pathway (5.2.6.4.2). Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: Shall have and maintain current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications. The American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is the only program accepted for these certifications. All such education shall be attended in an unpaid status. Certification: Shall be Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology or American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOOG) or an equivalent accredited program and have successfully completed a four-year residency program which is accredited by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology Physicians. Experience: Shall have at least two years’ experience in Obstetrics & Gynecology after their residency caring for patients within the last six years or shall have at least one year’s experience on a civilian or military hospital staff within the last six years. Time spent in an accredited residency program will not be used to satisfy this requirement. Licensure: Shall have an unrestricted license in one of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands and be able to obtain clinical privileges to practice medicine at the MTF where services are provided. Core Duties: Diagnose and treat diseases of and injuries to the genitourinary system and the reproductive system. Diagnose and treat the full range of obstetrical and gynecological cases. Place IUDs. Manage routine and complicated antenatal patients. Perform vaginal deliveries and cesarean-sections. Conduct routine pelvic exams. Evaluate abnormal pap smears (colposcopy). Perform routine GYN surgery, such as abdominal and vaginal hysterectomy and operative laparoscopic treatment. Perform office procedures such as endometrial biopsy and routine OB ultrasounds. Provide rotating OB/GYN on-call services. Perform physical examinations and determine if the standards of Army Regulation 40-501 are met. Consult with and advise referring physicians on the diagnosis and treatment plan. See patients as scheduled by MTF regardless of whether or not he/she is the primary physician. Refer long-term and follow-up patients to appropriate clinics. Order and interpret laboratory tests, radiographs, electrocardiograms, and other data necessary to complete appropriate evaluation of patients. Participate in peer review and perform appropriate ICD-9 coding for all evaluations and services rendered. Provide preoperative consultations and perioperative management. Administer and/or prescribe special medications needed for treatment. Provide technical direction, assistance, and training to technicians as assigned. Complete all necessary outpatient record entries and admission and discharge paperwork as required by hospital regulations and standards of practice. Become knowledgeable with the hospital formulary and prescribe pharmaceuticals accordingly. Participate in MTF Professional Committees during regular duty hours. Take part in hospital Quality Assurance Programs as required. Attend and participate in patient care reports, patient care conferences, team conferences, and other appropriate professional activities. Adhere to the Center for Disease Control guidelines concerning universal precautions and the MTF Infection Control Program. Benefits: Virtual Interviews. Hours of Performance: Duty hours will vary by position and location; however, typical duty hours are scheduled between 0700 - 1700, Monday through Friday. Detailed pay rates will be outlined in the initial interview phase. Physical Requirements: Must be able to walk, stand, and bend for 6-8 hours per day. Able to distinguish between basic colors. Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print. Ability to communicate effectively with customers in stressful situations. Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation and undergo urine drug testing. Advanced medical and anatomical skills. Knowledge of general surgery practices. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong motor skills and manual dexterity. Ability to work long and irregular hours. Advanced analytical skills and attention to detail.
