Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

  1. Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures.
  2. Attend safety meetings and participate in safety program.
  3. Primary responsibility will be operating the eddy deck of the shredder- inspection of eddy current belts, changing zorba fines supersacs, and collecting shredded metals recovery tests.
  4. General labor duties that may include but not limited to sweeping, shoveling and general clean-up of any area and/or equipment throughout the yard.
  5. Keep grounds clear of debris while maintaining safety standards.
  6. Operate small equipment such as a forklift. Potential to operate larger industrial equipment.
  7. Perform daily inspections on equipment reporting any defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
  8. Willing to cross-train in other positions and assist other employees as needed.
  9. Other duties as assigned by your manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-stop environment while providing excellent customer service.
  2. Minimum of 1-year previous general labor in heavy manufacturing environments, preferably in the scrap metal or construction industries.
  3. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
  4. 5 day work week- Mon-Fri 6:00am-5:00pm. Hours subject to change.
  5. Ability to work standing or walking for up to 12 hours per day.
  6. Ability to adapt to frequent changes of priority and complete job tasks safely and effectively without constant supervision.
  7. Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
  8. Flexible to work overtime, off-hours, weekends, and holidays in an industrial environment which includes being outdoors in all weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Experience with Skid Loader/Skid Steer/Forklift preferred.
  2. Bilingual preferred - Spanish.
Detailed Selection Criteria:

Application must be complete and include previous work history time frame dates, position titles, job duties and responsibilities to be considered.

Highly recommend including all applicable experience with heavy equipment and knowledge of metals.
