Job Summary and QualificationsAs the Registered Clinical Dietician you will be responsible for assessing the nutritional status of patients and designing nutrition programs to maintain or improve their health. As the Registered Dietician (R.D.) you will serve as a consultant within the Food and Nutrition Department and make recommendations on menu options, snacks, and other aspects of nutritional provision.
- You will provide evidence-based nutrition counseling to patients on modified diets
- You will conduct nutritional screenings and assessments of patients
- You will collaborate with physicians to coordinate and implement nutritional recommendations
- You will identify and communicate potential nutritional implications of medications and document this information in patients' records
- You will assist the Food Service Department Dietary Aides with patient food selection and which foods are allowed and disallowed based on the prescribed diet
Experience
- Experience with Meditech electronic charting preferred
- 1 year of clinical nutrition experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nutrition with the completion of Didactic internship or coordinated program as approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Dietitian (R.D.) credential or eligible with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Licensed Dietitian (L.D.) with the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dieticians within 90 days of initial employment
- Current ServSafe Food Handler Permit, Travis County Health Department Food Handler Card or State Food Safety permit preferred
