St. Joseph's Academy seeks a Dean of Curriculum and Instruction.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Dean of Curriculum and Instruction specializes in supervision, instruction and academic programs of the school. The Dean works in collaboration with the administration and faculty to promote the mission and philosophy of St. Josephs Academy by providing leadership and vision in the ongoing planning, implementation, development and evaluation of the schools curriculum. The Dean works to ensure that the schools educational objectives are aligned with the mission of the school, accreditation, standards and practices that yield the highest standards of student achievement and instructional excellence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Curriculum and Curricular Development
Coordinates the development, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum along with regular review audits.
Chairs the Curriculum Committee.
Manages Atlas Curriculum Maps working in conjunction with departments to ensure updated regularly.
Oversees the appropriation and adoption of textbooks and instructional materials including instructional software, such as IXL.
Keeps current on trends in curriculum and best practices in instruction, including active learning in the classroom, current standards, test data and feedback from faculty, parents and students to improve the curriculum.
Coordination, Prep, Testing and Data Collection
Works with the Dean of Academics to assess the effectiveness of the academic programs by using indicators of student performance, working with departments to analyze test data as a curriculum review tool.
Oversees the AP program working with the AP Coordinator.
Oversees the schools standardized testing program, AP testing and disaggregation of
data gathered from standardized tests and programs including Dual Enrollment.
Oversees, develops, modifies and maintains testing preparation programs for ACT and PSAT; chairs the Test Prep Committee.
Collects, interprets and disaggregates academic data.
Develops, modifies and maintains summer program for Math.
Continuous Improvement and Accreditation
Oversees the schools accreditation process and works to ensure continuation of past
accreditation school improvement goals.
Works with departments on Title money and grants.
Supervision and Instruction
Oversees the overall supervision program including formal and in-formal classroom observations.
Leads instructional coaching and collaborates with new teacher preparation.
Supervises and collaborates with the Learning Center, STEM program, Technology team, Media Coordinator, Computer Orientation Coordinator and Math Interventionist.
Maintains teacher certification program.
Professional Development
Works with team members to develop and implement professional development opportunities across curriculum areas.
Manages the professional development and departmental budgets.
Attends department meetings.
Collaborates on individual Professional Growth Plans.
Leads Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and analyzes data collected.
Other Administrative Duties
Conducts meetings with the faculty which deal both with routine school matters and exchange of ideas on issues and trends in education.
Responsible for certain programs, assemblies and events as assigned including attendance at athletic, academic and club events (during and outside of the school day).
Oversees the schools resource program.
Other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Supervises plans for field trips, mission trips and immersion trips.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree required; masters degree preferred.
Three of more years working in classrooms and coaching teachers.
Preferred knowledge of standardized test preparation and strong analytical skills.
Strong organizations and problem-solving skills, attention to detail.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Exceptional ability to bridge and enhance cooperative working relationships.
Ability to create, monitor and maintain systems that enhance organizational efficiency.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment; flexible, able to work autonomously as well as take direction as needed.
