The Data Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and administrating the Renewable SCADA infrastructure and supporting systems. They will also be responsible for training, testing, and deploying a machine learning (ML) platform for OT related business processes and troubleshooting. The candidate should have a proficient background in energy systems (ICS/DCS), plant communication/operation equipment (RTU, PPC), and communication protocols including DNP3, ICCP, and Modbus. Additionally, this engineer will have proficiency in Windows workstation & server administration.

Responsibilities

Perform ongoing system administration, maintenance, and upgrade activity within and surrounding the Automation Induction Ignition and OSII Monarch platforms.

Perform routine hardware & firmware maintenance and troubleshooting on renewable SCADA servers, workstations, PPC, RTU, and supporting system controllers.

Maintain IoT communication appliances for renewable data analytic systems such as Power Factors and Bazefield.

Pull datasets for internal & external stakeholders from renewable SCADA databases such as Mongo or MariaDB.

Troubleshoot system related issues and collaborate with team leader to satisfy engagements with Client's Energy Management.

PI, PI Process Book, and PI Vision maintenance as it pertains to integration with the SCADA (Ignition/Monarch) platforms.

Generate new data entries as required to satisfy internal and external stakeholders to include CPV plants, utilities, RTO, or PPA partners.

Aid the department head in the designing, developing, and deployment of AI models based on training data sets or using generative AI within the company policy standards.

Leverage Azure Cloud services to build OT/IT solutions that meet the specific needs of the organization.

Aid the team leader in advancing AI driven workflow by collaborating with cross functional teams to improve the efficiency of the Monday task management platform.

Support Client and Client assets in NERC best practices and NERC related cyber security.

Dependable, reliable, and predictable attendance is required along with 24/7 on-call duties to support all EMS/SCADA related system issues.

Qualifications

Associate degree or equivalent education in Power Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field

One of the following:

Five (5) or more years of energy generation, manufacturing, or industrial experience, OR;

Two (2) or more years of EMS/GMS/SCADA, Control/Operations Center or plant SCADA engineering with an emphasis on Automation Induction Ignition and/or OSII

Monarch .NET architecture experience is preferred

Strong understanding of OSI PI, PI Process Book and/or PI Vision

Proficiency in Windows Workstation/Server Active Directory and Office O365

Experience with Mark VIe, T3000, DNP3, C37.188, and Modbus protocols is a plus

Experience with SEL RTU 3530 and or 3555 and acSELerator QuickSet software preferred

Familiarity with prompt engineering, data modeling, and machine learning

Background in Azure Cloud, Azure AI, Mongo/MariaDB, or Python is a plus

Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Able to adapt to a flexible work schedule at times to support system administration maintenance, upgrades, and emergency issues for the SCADA infrastructure

Ability to travel up to 10% of time
