Position OverviewReporting to the Quality Manager , the Quality Technician will provide support in evaluating quality of products to all departmental areas. A keen eye for detail and the ability to focus for long periods is needed to ensure the Plant follows the Quality Management System as prescribed in the latest version of BRCGS standard or other company designated programs. Together with the Quality Manager, the Quality Technician is responsible for HACCP plan, SOP's and requirements associated with Product Safety as well as the proven continuous improvement process (CIP).In using the CIP, the Quality Technician will investigate defects to determine root causes and the need to implement preventative measures. Besides being reactionary, the Quality Technician will also behave proactively in mitigating product defects before they occur.Responsibilities- Monitor the CIP customer complaint / corrective action system daily -coordinate activity, investigation and close out customer, internal and audit issues. - Lead the Customer Complaint Investigation processes. Assist in timely responses based on effective root cause activity. - Participate in PIT (Production Improvement Team) meetings to assist with the identification of improvement opportunities. - Assist in writing, revising, maintaining, and operating BRCGS Food Safety and Quality procedures. - Conduct testing as required to include daily special, and collaborative testing in test lab and prepare COC/COA's - Produce reports regarding nonconformance of products or processes, daily production quality, root cause analyses, or quality trends. - Review production processes to ensure that products and services perform according to quality standards and that manufacturing processes are capable and qualified. - Assist with writing training material and conducts training sessions on quality activities. - Internal Audit Program participation. Work with the established audit plan to complete audits and prepare audit reports. To include audits by BRCGS, other divisions and internal audits. - Monitors and ensures calibration of, Inspection, Measuring and Test Equipment. - Develop strong, internal working relationships to support Customer Service, Sales, and Production departments. - Other duties as assigned to achieve company objectives.QualificationsSkills and Abilities - Strong Communication skills with ability to adjust communication style and interact across all levels of the organization, including ability to explain quality information to technical and non-technical audiences. - Ability to work well with people at all levels. Position requires a great deal of independent work. - Must be able to make critical decisions to support customers. - Accuracy, attention to detail and thoroughness are critical for this position. - Strong organizational skills are required. - Excellent math abilities and working knowledge of data/statistical methods. - Must be able to interpret BRCGS standards or other GFSI food safety programs, HACCP procedures, engineering specifications, drawing and other written documents related to the corrugated industry. - Adept at problem-solving and identifying root cause to implement preventative methods. - Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing quality practices. - Must have practical knowledge of customer relations protocol. Education - Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience - Industry/Equipment - Three years' experience in an industrial manufacturing environment - corrugated experience is preferred. - Product Testing in a lab setting is preferred.
