Overview Facilities Services Specialist (F/T) - Plumber. Performs journey level skilled activities including work of mechanics, electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, locksmiths, irrigation, painters, and carpenters. Trains and oversees work of other employees. Maintains related specifications, drawings, blueprints, and records. Responsibilities Serves as a lead to lower level staff, including prioritizing and assigning work; monitoring performance; training staff on methods and procedures; and participating in performance evaluations. Repairs and/or regulates District buildings, fixtures, systems, facilities, and grounds by making journey level repairs or installations; responds to emergency calls, customer complaints, or safety concerns. Installs, makes, and/or modifies a variety of materials, fixtures, and/or equipment. Inspects facilities, systems, and fixtures and ensures periodic servicing. Prepares documentation and standardized paperwork, including work orders; reviews and maintains specifications, drawings, blueprints, and related records. Maintains and cleans systems and equipment. Maintains and purchases supplies, equipment, tools, and vehicles in assigned area. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Education & Experience Vocational Degree and four years of specialized trades experience directly related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties. Licensing Requirements Valid Arizona Drivers License. Some positions may require additional licenses or certifications (e.g., CFC, Pesticide Applicator License, Commercial Drivers License Class A, ASE Certifications, or licensure in a trade). Knowledge Procedures, practices, and methods related to the area of assignment. Tools, equipment, and materials relevant to the area of assignment. Safety procedures, inventory principles, and applicable laws, rules, regulations, codes, and standards. Recordkeeping principles, mathematical principles, and safe work practices. Skills Prioritizing and assigning work; using relevant tools and equipment. Performing journey level trades maintenance activities; reading blueprints and construction drawings. Troubleshooting systems; preparing and maintaining maintenance records; procuring inventory and supplies. Performing mathematical calculations; interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, and standards. Communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with coworkers, supervisors, and the public. Physical Requirements Positions require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and frequent repetitive motions. Heavy work may involve exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects. Workers may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, and loud noises.
