Lead Program Coach Job Description
To assist the program coordinator with the care and supervision of program participants and program coaches. Assist with the development and implementation of program activities. Facilitate individual, small, and large group activities. Assist with maintenance therapy/activity programs. Assist with program set-up, supervision of staff and clean-up of the program area. Work Performed: Provide continued care and supervision of program participants, including but not limited to physical and personal assistance in toileting, transfers, maintenance therapy, feeding, and personal care. Assist with the Adult Day Care Food program of portioning, serving, and supervising meal service. Supervise program coaches Perform daily charting and assist Coordinator with the maintenance of daily and monthly documentation. Support Assistant program supervisor and assume coordinating responsibilities in the Program Coordinator's absence. Other duties as assigned.
Equipment Used: Appropriate therapeutic equipment to include gait belt, walker, wheelchair, canes, exercise weights. Activity materials to include but not limited to pens, pencils, markers, worksheets, games, art/craft supplies. Office equipment to include telephone, copy machine, calculator, fax machine, and computer.
Position Qualification: One year recent and continuous experience working with disabled adults in a rehabilitation and/or geriatric setting. Excellent verbal and written skills required. Ability to handle as well as supervise multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to facilitate educational and discussion-based activity groups. Activity Certification preferred. CPR and First Aide certification required. Must be able to perform all job functions.
Essential Functions of The Job: Ability to provide for the direct care of participants (includes providing hands on care in addition to visual/auditory supervision to ensure the safety and welfare of the participants at all times). Able to assist Program Coordinator with managing all aspects of the day program. Must be able to plan, organize, and instruct effectively. Must have good writing and verbal communications in order to communicate clearly with participants, families and staff. Must be able to speak and understand English proficiently in order to communicate with the dominant language of the consumers. Ability to facilitate a variety of activities (indoor and outdoor) under the direction of the Program Coordinator. Must project a positive company image by maintaining professional appearance, attire, attitude, and conduct.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, life, transfer, and carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to bend, stoop, squat, twist, push as needed to provide direct care. Visual skills acceptable for providing supervision and the ability to hear participant/staff instruction. Ability to walk on varied terrain which includes carpet, tile, concrete, dirt, and grass. Ability to work within the program area which includes reaching for charts, supplies and retrieving and replacing items on shelves.
